Nanny Job Details

Job ID: 4971
Location: Broomfield, CO

Please describe your family:
We are a young (ish) family of five: a working dad, a stay at home mom, and three little boys. We also have two large dogs keeping us company. I’m from Texas and my husband is from Indiana, but we’ve been in the Denver area for 11 years now, and love it. We are relaxed and like to have fun, but we definitely like to follow a routine with the boys and try to create a stimulating but comfortable environment for them. Our kiddos are our priority, so finding a great nanny that can come into our home and become a part of our family is important to us.

Please describe why you are looking for a nanny:
Our boys are young… 3, 2 and 3 months. I love being home with them, but it is a very demanding job. I’d like to have somebody come in that can care for my boys, give them a different perspective and allow me to take a little break and get a few things done.

Describe the child(ren) you need a nanny for:
Our boys are definitely typical toddler BOYS: high energy, busy and curious. Our oldest, who is 3, is bright, strong-willed, social, and very talkative (is generally only quiet when sleeping). He loves “racey cars” and airplanes and trains… basically anything that moves. He also loves to sit down and play with play doh, do puzzles, or read books. He goes to preschool two mornings a week and is loving it. Things that we are starting to see more of are imaginative and role play, singing and (in the name of honesty) bossiness.

Our middle guy is 2 years old and is sweet and charming and sneaky. He’s got big blue eyes and a killer grin. If you don’t hear him, you better go looking… he’s likely in the next room “fixin” something with his tools or unloading the bookshelf. He’s very cuddly and loves to run at you full speed to give you a bear hug.

The baby is just shy of 4 months old and is a fat, happy little dude. He is still working on figuring out his routine, but we are getting there. He’s either smiling and cooing or looking at you with a furrowed brow trying to figure things out. He is starting to enjoy batting at toys and hanging out in his exersaucer for entertainment. The only trouble that he causes at the moment is refusing a bottle. He’s only been left with a sitter a few times, for a few hours at a time, and he has chosen to just wait for me to return home to eat. At some point soon, I will wean him completely and we’ll get over this little battle.

They all love to be chased and tickled and loved on, which are all parts of our “normal” day. The “big boys” play together most of the time … but with that comes regular battles over “my toy” or “he’s touching me”, etc. Mediation is a skill that comes in handy. :-)

Describe your home setting: We have a fairly large, newer home in Broomfield with lots of room to play and more toys and entertainment options than three little boys should have access to. We have a nice back yard, four parks with play areas, and a great community rec center within walking distance of our house. There are lots of other families with young kids, so there is typically some socializing going on somewhere in the neighborhood.

Nanny, Permanent

Full-Time/Part-Time?

How long do you need a Nanny?
1 Year

What tasks/errands do you expect your nanny to perform?
We are looking for someone to take care of the kiddos, keep them productively entertained, tend to their basic needs, and be consistent with our rules and routines. Entertainment options are open and they tend to enjoy the following: unstructured play with the myriad of toys around the house, artsy stuff (coloring, play doh, stickers, etc.), imaginative play, singing, dancing, building and “fixing” things, reading, going for walks, playing at the park, etc. Light housework would include tidying up after them, picking up toys, cleaning up the kitchen and emptying the dishwasher, and little boy laundry.

How much are you willing to pay? Do you offer benefits?
$12-$16/hour; no benefits

Do you have any pets or animals in your home?
We have two Rhodesian Ridgebacks. Our female is 9 years old and weighs 85lbs. She’s very smart and a little bit snobby (but tolerant of the boys). Our male is 7 years old and 115lbs. He’s really sweet, but MUCH more needy. He likes to lick the boys’ faces (it’s gross, and we try to stop it, but he sneaks ‘em in there when we aren’t looking). The dogs can be kept separated from the boys, but they generally have free roam of the house. Our nanny would need to feel comfortable with the dogs and making sure that the kids and the canines are playing nicely.

What else are you looking for in a nanny?
We are looking for someone who can become a member of our family. This is definitely a professional arrangement, but we’ll need to have a good personal relationship to work together effectively to provide the best care for the boys as they grow. Mostly, we want somebody that the boys can respect and enjoy, and that really enjoys being a nanny and spending time with our kids. If we can’t be with them, we want the next best thing.
