Nanny Job Details

Job ID: 5025
Location: Boulder, CO

Please describe your family:
We are a warm, sensitive, energetic family of four. Our son is 3 years old and our daughter is 16 months old. Mom works part-time and when she gets a chance she enjoys reading, swimming, mountain biking, and snowboarding. Dad is a software engineer who enjoys music and climbing. We have a love for learning and for the outdoors.

Please describe why you are looking for a nanny:
Mom works part-time as a professor and enjoys working from home quite a bit in the upstairs office (out of the way), catching up on housekeeping chores, and keeping fit. Dad loves his full-time job in the technology sector. When we are busy with these activities, we are looking for a nanny to step in to provide care for our children. Mom loves spending time with her children and so our need is really for a part-time nanny whose primary focus is enjoying our children and supporting our parental intentions.

Describe the child(ren) you need a nanny for:
We have two very verbal, bright and energetic children who love to spend time outside. Our son is 3 years old and can tell you the name of just about any truck you care to learn more about. He loves reading books, telling stories, and singing (and playing) songs. In new situations he can be a tad cautious and introverted, but quickly warms up once he feels comfortable. Our daughter is 16 months old. Because she is small most people are surprised by how well she can move her body around a play structure with the older kids. She is extroverted and is a passionate but sensitive little girl who loves gently petting animals and chasing around her big brother.

Describe your home setting: We live in a three story 4-bedroom home in South Boulder with easy access to 36. We have a backyard with several kid-friendly activities (a garden with cherry tomatoes that are ready to be picked, a little play structure, a large sandbox, and several water toys). We live in a very unique community of 40 houses that surround a green open space with a private pool for our use. We have fantastic neighbors who look out for our family and who provide a strong sense of community. Our home is within walking distance of the Meadows Branch library, Little Gym, and East Boulder Rec Center. We keep a tidy household and like to keep shoes off indoors. We have music on for most of the day. We try to eat as many organic vegetables as possible and have a large garden to help us out. We have an indoor cat that mostly keeps to herself, though during nap time when the coast is clear she may ask for a little love.

We are interested in the following:

How long do you need a Nanny?
1 Year

Live-in/Live-out?
Nanny, live-out

What tasks/errands do you expect your nanny to perform?
Throughout the day we would expect the nanny to keep the kitchen tidy and to straighten up after the kids. While the children are sleeping we would like to get some help with laundry or the evening’s dinner (mostly prep work like chopping etc). There may be a need to run to the grocery store or to drop off or pick up our son at preschool as well. On a weekly basis we will let the nanny know what kinds of tasks/errands we need help with.

What activities do you want your nanny to do with your child?
Both of our children love to read books, so going to the library for story time or to get books is a great activity for them. Going to parks and spending time outside is a must for our kids—we are so fortunate to have warm days in the winter! In the summer, swimming at our pool (which has a baby pool) is a nice way to cool off. We are very open to outings and ideas from our nanny but would always want to know where our children are at all times and request that the nanny have a functional cell phone turned on when out with the kids.

What special certifications/requirements are you looking for?

What else are you looking for in a nanny?
We are looking for a professional but warm and open and honest relationship with our caregiver. We are very direct people and expect our nanny to be forthright and direct with us. We get along best with sensitive, open-minded, energetic, positive people. Our children thrive with warm and engaged care, and we are looking for someone special to fill this important role for them.

Additional comments:
We need between 15 and 20 hours of care each week. There is some flexibility in the schedule and our schedule does change with the semester (mom is a professor and teaches different classes). Here is a description of what we are going to need for the next year: August – December Thursdays 12:30 – 5:30 (required) Mondays, Wednesdays 8:15 – 1:45 (preferred, but somewhat flexible) **In addition to the above requested hours we would be willing to add a few hours here or there for a candidate that needs more hours and is otherwise a great match for us. January – May Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays 8:15 – 1:45 (required) Once a month or so we will also need a ~6h block of time on either Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, or Sunday. **In addition to the above requested hours we would be willing to add a few hours here or there for a candidate that needs more hours and is otherwise a great match for us! Summer 2011 Our need would still be in the 15-20h range and we expect to have a tremendous amount of scheduling flexibility as mom does not teach during the summer.
