My husband Geoff is a music producer and I have my PhD in Public Health and am currently doing freelance work from home. We are originally from New York City and have been living in Boulder for a year and a half.
Please describe why you are looking for a nanny:
I am looking for a nanny with experience working as an educator and, preferably with some special needs training. She must be loving yet firm and be comfortable taking charge and be able to handle situations when the kids are fighting, not listening or having a tantrum. My daughter is very artistic so I would like a nanny who is good with arts and crafts, and also is physically active, likes to play games, and is very creative in their play with the children....she must have a great imagination!!!We are building a pool which will be finished in June, so you also need to be able to swim. Our house is at the top of a hill (Middle Fork Rd) so a very reliable car (preferably a 4 wheel drive) is important.
Describe the child(ren) you need a nanny for:
Spencer is 7 and India is 4. They are both attend a Montessori school (Spencer is in 1st grade and India in pre-K). Spencer is very sweet but can also have alot of mood swings (he has been diagnosed and is treated for bipolar and ADD). India is a very girly girl...loves dancing and dressing up. She can also be very strong-willed and has meltdowns at times. These kids are wonderful and tons of fun, but they can also be very challenging. So, we do need a nanny who knows how to handle these challenges appropriately, calmly and kindly.
Describe your home setting: We live 11 minutes from North Boulder. Our house is beautiful, with breathtaking views all the way to Denver. It's very large and very child-friendly (awesome playroom with windows everywhere). We are building a pool and are on 35 acres (although it doesn't feel isolated AT ALL...there are neighbors all around). My husband has an apartment downtown, as we are separated but absolute BEST FRIENDS (we travel together and he spends alot of time up at the house with us)

What tasks/errands do you expect your nanny to perform?
Light housekeeeping (just straightening up with the kids and doing their dishes, etc), occassional cooking dinner for kids if we are out, preparing snacks). She will have to pick up my daughter at school a couple of days per week, take her to art class, sometimes pick up my son from school, take them to playdates.
What activities do you want your nanny to do with your child?
Reading, lots of arts and crafts (trips to Michaels and Joannes a must), going to playground, having playdates, playing board games, taking them bowling, swimming at rec center and our pool at home, going for hikes and picnics, reading, baking, going to library and working on reading
What special certifications/requirements are you looking for?
Definite experience as a teacher, preferably experience with special ed kids. First Aid certification a must. Have at least a college degree in education, child psychology or the like.
