Jeannine - $18- $20 FT Nanny/Household Manager

Nanny Job Details

Job ID: 5187
Location: Boulder, CO

Please describe your family:
We are a multicultural family with Australian, Canadian and USA citizens. We have a very talkative outgoing 7 year old son and a very independent 4yr old daughter, and an easy going 16 month old son whose nickname is Jolly Ollie due to his dipsosition. My husband works full-time as a partner at an engineering company and I work part-time as an IT modeler. I work part-time so that I can spend more time with my children during this precious stage in our lives. We love camping and enjoying the outdoors as a family and believe in sitting down together for a healthy meal every night.

Please describe why you are looking for a nanny:
I work 3 days a week and our two older children have schedules that clash making pick up from school difficult. Even though I don't work full-time we need help almost full-time as someone needs to be at the house when my daughter is dropped home from preschool and someone needs to pick up my son from school at exactly the same time.

Describe the child(ren) you need a nanny for:
All my children love being outside. They love building things out of recycled materials and cooking in the kitchen. My son is often described as an old soul and generally loves to help you. Both my older children need someone that can set boundaries and stick to them. If they know the rules they are fine. My daughter is fiercely independent, but still wants her mum. Distraction tactics are best with her for when I have to leave. They are typically well behaved and respectful, but are still young kids after all. My toddler is a very easy going third child. He is super easy to put down for a nap and generally sleeps well. He is loving the new mobility he has found in cruising.

Describe your home setting: We live in a four bedroom single-family home with a big garden that the kids love to play in. We have a playhouse that they can spend hours in. In the summer we like to eat outside whenever possible. I work from home in an office located on the second floor. With the doors closed I do not hear what is going on downstairs. All the bedrooms and living space are downstairs so there is no need for our current nanny to come upstairs except if she needs me. I am very aware not to undermine our nanny's authority in front of the children. We live on the Skip bus line and are close to many parks. My son's school is at the end of our street and he walks or rides to school everyday. Our nanny will have access to our cars to transport the children. We also have a bike with a bike seat on the back and a chariot.

We are interested in the following:
Nanny, Permanent

Full-Time/Part-Time?
Full-time

How long do you need a Nanny?
1 Year

Live-in/Live-out?
Nanny, live-out

What tasks/errands do you expect your nanny to perform?
The nanny's first and foremost responsibility will be the care of our 3 children. I am looking for a self starter that is able to come up with activities to do with the children (mostly the younger 2 in the morning) and fun places to go (Denver museums, open gymnastics time etc). During naps I would like the nanny to clean up any meal dishes made with/for the kids. I would also like the nanny to clean up any mess/toys made during the course of the day together with the kids. I would also like the nanny to change the kids bed sheets once week. Roughly 26 hours a week would be devoted solely to nanny duties. The remaining 10-14 hrs (dependent on applicant's schedule) would involve general household duties such as grocery shopping, running errands, changing sheets on beds and laundry. I will make a clear separation between when the nanny is expected to be performing childcare duties and household duties, i.e. I would not expect someone to watch the children and organize a room in the house.

What activities do you want your nanny to do with your child?
I would like our children to be outside as much as possible, either at our house or on outings to the park, pool, library etc . We limit TV and would prefer no TV. It is an occasiona treat.l Our son doesn't use the computer yet, either. The nanny would also need to prepare lunch and snacks for the two younger children which usually consist of healthy whole foods such as hummus, cut up veges, fruit, yogurt, scrambled egg, left overs from the night before.

What special certifications/requirements are you looking for?
First/Aid CPR, would love someone versed in the Waldorf philosophy. French is a bonus.

Does this position require a valid driver's license?
Yes

Does this position require a car?
A car is provided

When will this position be available?
8/15/2016

How many hours do you need a nanny for?
We are looking for someone 36-40hrs a week. Total end number can be determined with the applicant. We would like a commitment of a year, but the position would be available for more than a year.

How much are you willing to pay? Do you offer benefits?
$18-$20 an hour. We offer 2 weeks paid personal time.

Do you have any pets or animals in your home?
We have fish. We occasionally look after a friend's dog, but if that is a problem for the successful applicant we can stop that.

What else are you looking for in a nanny?
My husband speaks only French to the children and my oldest son and daughter speak a little and understand it all. We would love someone that is fluent in French. This is not a requirement. We would love someone that is calm, gentle and observant. We would like someone that can see what needs to be done and jumps in to do it and isn't afraid of a variety of jobs.

Additional comments:
As mentioned above we are looking for someone to perform nanny duties approximately 26 hrs of the week and the other 10-14 hours would be household management tasks such as errands, laundry, grocery shopping, organizing and tidying as well as some cleaning.
