The nanny has the following experience:
I am a graduate student with a host of childcare and life experience. I have been a full time nanny for several families and offered on call childcare for dozens of families. I have experience with newborn through teens, healthy and compromised children. I have worked with children with a host of mental, physical and emotional challenges and fell comfortable meeting children and families wherever they are at, and with whatever challenges their lives are presenting with. As a Pediatric Medical Assistant I spent over five years in healthcare. Working with children in a healthcare setting requires a strong sense of empathy and a knack for framing what could otherwise be an emotionally charged situation. I would be more than willing to provide a full resume upon request.

The nanny has experience with the following age groups:
I have worked with all ages, and am comfortable with absolutely every age. I have a sound sense of developmentally appropriate milestones and interests throughout infancy, childhood and adolescence. I have found that each stage and age offers its own beauty and challenges, as is the case with most things in life.

The nanny has the following interests and hobbies:
I love to connect through caring, learning, and play. I take pleasure in striking the balance between structuring our time together and allowing each moment to unfold in the way that best supports development and health. The combination serves me welI in the childcare profession and in life in general. It is important to me to move, so I often find myself hiking, biking, running, climbing, or anything else that gets me outside and moving. I sing to the radio and dance whenever I have a chance, and hope folks will join me. In my down time I like to read, make jewelry, listen to stories on the radio and refinish furniture. I write poetry and short stories, and like to dabble in painting, drawing & sewing. I play with the guitar, without much skill but enjoy it all the same.

Level of education:
B.A. Human development & Outdoor Education, Post Baccalaureate Pre Medical Program Graduate Studies Program in Counseling Psychology

Do you have additional skills or certifications:
-American Red Cross CPR for Health care Providers -Medical Assistant Training; six years on job training, last five years in Pediatrics.

Describe your childcare style:
Have a plan and always be willing and able to change it. Children require patience, flexibility and most importantly a sense of humor. They benefit from structure and clear guidelines, but also really want and need to have fun. Most importantly, I love working with children, it brings a real sense of meaning and joy into my life.

What activities do you like to do with children:
There is a world of possibilities…I could sit down with parents and actually create a camp schedule for the summer based on parental goals and the children’s interests. This could be a special week for the summer or for every week over the summer. It would be a great way for children to get the most enriching and engaging summer experience Boulder has to offer. I have years of experience running summer camps, I would love to put that experience to work for your family. More generally, I prefer to play outside, but have a multitude of games, crafts, projects and stories in "my hat" for the days we need to be inside. I like to bike, walk, or take the bus whenever possible with kids, both for the obvious environmental reasons, but also because it helps slow the day down. At home I am always eager to see what kids create, their person always shows up in their work and is often the best part of a day. Food is a big part of everyones life, and children are often happy to be a part of preparing the families food. Teaching children about what constitutes healthy food choices and all the different ways we can use food is a rewarding and valuable process. Infants & toddlers offer beautiful challenges for creating sensory play and environmental exploration. Simple things can be made especially rich with this age group. Alerting baby to his/her new found sensory perception and motor functions always proves to be a rewarding day for everyone.

Why are you interested in working as a nanny?
I have a lot of energy and interests and I find that children employ them well. It is also important to me that how I spend my time feel meaningful and valuable. For this reason, I genuinely enjoy most everything about being a Nanny.

What qualities are important in a nanny?
Creative, patient, appreciative, and accepting. Being part of other peoples family is a complex job, that requires someone who is professional but also very genuine and honest.
