Experience: My child care experience started at the age of nine when I cared for neighborhood children and attended a babysitting course taught in the local hospital. From there I went on to study Early Childhood Education at the University of Oregon and worked as a Preschool teacher. During this time I began my long journey as a professional Nanny working with families who had specific educational goals for their children. I have also volunteered as a tutor in a Middle school. My experience in childhood development easily transferred over when I worked for a state run program teaching developmentally disabled adults and high schoolers. I have also taught the summer program at a Montessori School in which time I learned the importance of leading by example and of teaching personal responsibility. My favorite experience was working as a Naturalist guide for young children at a Nature Conservancy.I receive so much joy seeing children interact with and appreciate nature! Along the way I have gained tons of experience with all ages and children from variety of backgrounds and personal challenges. I am currently a 29 year old Professional Nanny/Massage Therapist!

Experience with the following age groups: Most recently I have worked with infants through age 5. I have the most experience with infants and pre-k, but have worked with children up to age thirteen.

Interests and hobbies:I am interested in creating a healthy and balanced lifestyle for myself and the ones I care for. This includes a regular Yoga practice, meditation, learning about the body and nutrition, running, biking, hiking, dancing, skiing, creating yummy healthy food, and gardening.

Describe your childcare style:I use positive discipline with a strong emphasis on personal responsibility, I like to emphasis eye contact. I get on their level(lower than I usually stand), and allow them to express their needs while I listen fully. I am mindful and loving in my response while also making sure to convey the importance of the lessen at hand. I follow through with boundaries and consequences once they are established. I believe that a childs creativity and enthusiasm for learning should be preserved and nurtured. Through providing an environment that is organized and by communicating clear boundaries a child may feel safe to explore and reach their highest potential. Making things really really really extremely exciting and fun is key!

What activities do you like to do with children:I like to tell stories with children and have them use their imagination to come up with the plot.It is so amazing how they share their perspective in this way! I also love reading to them and teaching them to read and understand concepts.I love doing art projects, singing, dancing to music and being silly. I am SILLY! I love to laugh and make children laugh. I like to incorporate developmental exercises such as hand eye coordination and sound games when I work with infants. One of my most favorite things to do with kids is to be outside and exploring nature in detail. Smelling, tasting, touching-experiencing!

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? I have a very sweet and true nature and a natural gift for relating with children. I know that one of my lifes purpose is to be someone who children can turn to as an example of how to relate to the world with love, kindness and integrity. Being a nanny provides an intimate setting for me to create meaningful and deep relationships, and to create a lasting positive effect in childrens lives.

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?A nanny needs to be: 1. Quick! 2. Loving 3. Funny (but real) 4. Honest 5. Smart and Organized 6. Fun 7. Energetic 8. Flexible 9. Sometimes Stern 10. Playful 11. Being present and mindful of your actions and your words,(this can make or break a situation!)

Additional comments:I am looking for a family who allows for self expression and creativity, and encourages their children to be challenged.
