Experience: I have a wide variety of experience including the following: I am a loving big sister to my two younger siblings ages 11 and 8. I have been an important part of their lives since their birth. Even now, when I am home to visit them, it is so much fun to treat them to ice cream, bring them lunch at school or play games with them. I have worked in international orphanages in the countries of Peru and Argentina. I have taken care of the orphan’s personal care, as well as played with them and brought love and fun into their lives. I have been a traveling nanny for a single mother who desired to bring her children on her business trips with her. I cared for her daughters while she attended to her business in the cities of Seattle, Washington, DC, and San Francisco. I spent three months working at a summer camp for middle and high school kids. I served as a counselor and leader of various recreational activities. I spent hours with kids one on one situations, as well as in small and large groups. My mother is a teacher and I have accumulated many volunteer hours working in her classroom over the years. I have tutored students and provided academic support for all ranges of learners. I have worked as a nanny for an average of 25 hours per week for a three-year old and a twelve year old. I care for the children, as well as cook and clean for the family. I have worked as a nanny for an average of ten hours per week for an infant, four year old and six year old. My duties included caring for the children, including taking the six year old to and from school and other activities.

Experience with the following age groups: I have experience with all age groups.

Interests and hobbies:I love all types of outdoor activities! I have played soccer at a competitive level, and love to play many team sports. I also enjoy exploring beautiful Colorado. Hiking, biking, rock climbing, snowshoeing, camping, and backpacking are all activities I enjoy! I am also an avid reader and enjoy various crafts.

Describe your childcare style:I believe children need to have a loving and safe (physical and emotional) environment. I create this type of environment by establishing relationships of mutual respect with the children in my care. I set firm boundaries for acceptable behavior and then, I enforce those boundaries with loving care in a fair manner. Children need to be stimulated and engaged in enriching activities. I play creative games and interact constantly with the children in my care. Wherever I am a nanny, fun and laughter fill the house.

What activities do you like to do with children:I like to spend time getting to know what the children’s interests and abilities are. Then, I support whatever those interests may be. If a child loves to read, I will find books that that child can enjoy. If a child loves to garden, then we will grow plants together. If the child plays on a sports team, then we will play that sport together. I will also introduce the children to new activities including imaginative play and an appreciation for the outdoors.

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? Children bring me a great deal of joy! I truly enjoy being with them! There is a great deal of satisfaction in knowing that I am investing in the life of a precious child. I also know how important it is to busy parents to have their children in the care of someone who is trustworthy, dependable and loving. My major is Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences, and my career goal is to work with children in the area of speech development. Serving children and their families is a life long goal of mine.

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter? There are many important qualities an outstanding nanny must possess: Dependable and Responsible – A family needs to know that they can depend on a nanny to be prompt, timely and able to follow directions accurately. Loving and Patient – A nanny must be kind and patient with children in her care. She needs to be able to communicate care for the children she is serving. Fun! – Children need to know that when the nanny is there, fun times are ahead! Children need to laugh, to play and have a great time. Respectful – A nanny needs to be respectful of a family’s values, even though those values may be different from her own. Intelligent and able to make good judgment calls in emergency situations – A nanny will encounter unforeseen circumstances and needs to be able to handle stress well. Multi-tasking is an important skill for a nanny to have.
