Experience: My degree is a Bachelor of Science in Education, K-12, Licensure. Immediately after graduation, I spent the summer as a residential camp counselor and Head Ropes Course Supervisor. I have also worked as a day camp counselor as well a before and after school instructor. I have worked in several early learning centers throughout my career ages birth through school age. I have been an Assistant Director and Center Director for an inclusive early learning center as well as an Early Intervention Teacher/Developmental Therapist. At this center, I got the pleasure and knowledge in working with typically developing children alongside those children who had special needs or a medical condition. The beauty of this program was that it was inclusive. So, the children with special needs did not feel isolated but a part of their peer group and those who are typically developing got the awesome experience of taking part in speech therapy, OT, feeding therapy and physical therapy. I also got the pleasure as a Developmental Therapist to go into the homes of those children who have special needs and work on their Individualized Family Service Plan goals. My most recent work is working with adults and children with developmental disabilities in a community based program. I also tutor all ages and all subjects. I have a passion for teaching and caring for children of all ages. I know as a teacher and especially as a mother myself the importance of finding someone who you can trust to come into your home and care for you children. Over the years, I have been a nanny for various families and know how comforting it is to find someone who loves and respects your child as you do. I enjoy all ages!!

Experience with the following age groups: Newborn through Senior Age

Interests and hobbies:As a mother of two daughters, we are an active family of four that enjoys the outdoors! You will see us at the soccer fields, dance studio, or taking horseback riding lessons. I love the mountains and going snowboarding. I also love to hike and take long bike rides. I also take pleasure in quiet time for myself with reading or watching a good movie.

Describe your childcare style:I believe in caring for children by respecting them and teaching them through interactive play. Education is very important is my childcare style, I believe it is important that children be given the opportunity to learn as much as they can while having fun through play. It is important for children to receive a well rounded experience with education, movement, outdoors, art and music. I believe in redirecting challenging behaviors and that every child no matter how unique deserves all the respect and care they deserve. I also strongly believe that every child can learn no matter what….I have seen it through my own experience. The bottom line is respect, dignity and patience!!

What activities do you like to do with children:I love to give children a well rounded interactive experience. I am passionate about reading! I truly believe that literacy is vital in the developmental of children. I like to have a routine for the day. I have learned that children respond really well to structure and a routine. It does not need to be strict but giving a child boundaries helps to enhance their learning experience. No matter the age, even newborn, I love to have what I call circle time. During this time, depending on the age, I make it age appropriate, we go over the weather, days of the week, month in the year, share a personal story if they chose, share the upcoming activities for the day and if they are little you gotta have singing!! Children love to sing and dance! I always ensure that throughout the day, we are engaged in some type of physical activity. I enjoy doing art projects with the children as part of the activities for the day. If they children are older, I see what their hobbies/interests are and plan according to the likes. Swimming is always a fun activity as well as the zoo, museums, etc. I just make sure the children are engaged and having fun!!

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? My passion is children and caring for children. I know the importance of finding someone to care for your children and the trust you put into them. I value that trust and ensure that I do everything I can to live up to that.

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?Patience and understanding. It is important for the nanny to care for the child wherever that child is at for the day. Children are like adults and have different moods. You have to be able to respond and just go with it. Providing consistency and stability while taking care of them is essential in providing them the best care possible. The most important quality besides ensuring the child is having fun and I think learning while having fun is that they feel safe and loved. It is hard when mommies and daddies are not home and so it is the responsibility of the nanny to make the child feel protected, supported, safe and loved.
