Experience: Growing up in an in home daycare taught me early on how to care for the needs of children. For over 11 years I have done occasional babysitting for relatives and other families. I have been with the same family for nearly 2 years and have provided care for 5-year-old twins and an 18 month old. I have been with the family since before the baby was born and have been one of her sole care providers, watching her grow and getting to know her unique personality and modes of communication. I spent two summers working for a family with an 11-year-old girl and 14-year-old boy. I spent 3.5 years assisting my sister in her in home daycare, where we supervised 5 children, ages 7 months, 10 months, 2 years, 3 years, and 6 years. I spend extensive time around my 6 nieces and 2 nephews, which has further increased my knowledge of how to care for children.

Experience with the following age groups: Absolutely all ages. I have extensive newborn and infant experience. I also enjoy spending time with children of all other ages. I have experience working with ages newborn to 15 years old.

Interests and hobbies:My interests range from relaxing with an excellent book to going on a lovely hike. I value relationships and love the time I get to spend with my husband, family, and friends. I enjoy music, coloring with children or reading to them, being outdoors, throwing a football, playing sports, boxing, going jogging, doing puzzles, doing arts and crafts, watching movies, discovering exciting places to visit, and learning new things. I am content being active or spending leisure time at home.

Describe your childcare style:I strive to maintain a balance between fun and structure. I want to create an environment in which children feel safe to learn, grow, and have fun, while knowing they have boundaries to follow.

What activities do you like to do with children:I enjoy reading to them, coloring with them, playing with toys, going to the park, talking to them about their interests, dancing with them, and taking them to the zoo. For infants and newborns, I enjoy holding them, singing to them, and cuddling them. I love watching them learn to crawl and walk, and getting to see them smile, laugh, and form their first sounds and words.

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? I have grown up around children and infants and have always loved spending time with them. I want to provide parents with the assurance that the person caring for their children is reliable and has a genuine love for the children and a concern for their well-being. I love forming a bond of trust with the children as they build a relationship with me, and seeing that they know I love them and have their best interest at heart.

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?A nanny should be kind and fun, but should be able to discipline when necessary in a way that is consistent, firm, and appropriate to the age of the child being cared for. She should also be creative and energetic. A nanny should be self-motivated and use nap time to do what needs to be done around the house or quietly entertain herself. She should be honest and reliable.
