Experience: I worked with 5 to12 year olds at a summer camp, I have had a job as ski instructor for 2 seasons at a ski school. I helped raised half brother, now 6 from infancy to 4 yrs.

Experience with the following age groups: 5 to 12 year olds

Interests and hobbies:I love being outside! I love to ski, run, cycle, swim, backpack, hike, and snowboard. I love crafting, cooking, and baking, and am extremely creative, especially in all types and genres of music. I have played in jazz bands, marching bands, and rock bands but also enjoy the sense of accomplishment of being able to pick up a guitar or sit down at a piano.

Describe your childcare style:The most important thing is the safety of a child, but being as attentive as possible is also imperative to the childs overall well being. Being physically active at times, interspersed with playing intellectual chess games and doing creative art projects is also very important in my opinion. Engaging all parts of a childs developing brain by doing stimulating activities helps a child learn best, in my opinion. I love to teach, and I think it is incredibly important to help a child learn in a way that works for them, depending on whether they are visual, audio, or kinesthetic learners. I think it is very important to play each and every type of any game. While every year is a formative year in my opinion, a child has to learn individually what they like and do not like early on to develop to their full potential.

What activities do you like to do with children:Teaching a child new things is always a goal of mine, because there is always a possibility I can learn something new. Things like planting gardens and baking are great, because children can learn what and what not to do in addition to enjoying the fruits of their labor. I love to be outside and grew up playing outside, so I think things like walks, hikes, and going to the park are beneficial. Teaching a child a new sport or helping them develop a one on one sport such as tennis, skiing, skateboarding, or swimming are all great activities I enjoy doing. I think kids come to love doing activities such as these with me because I love doing them with them, we build off each others confidence! Lastly, when a child completes an art project, they are almost as proud as I am of them! Mainly, I think, because they can see what they are capable of and love it!

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? I really enjoy working with children, and I think it is incredibly important for a child to have a person who is a different, non parental influence in their most important, developing years. Like I said earlier, I absolutely love teaching children, especially because I love seeing the spark they get when learning new things, and the satisfaction that comes from successfully teaching. I feel like I can connect with children on their level, I really am a kid at heart, and think that my many years of helping such a large number of kids develop intellectually or in any ability they choose to is a definite plus.

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?I think a nanny always puts the child before themself, while making sure that the child is ALWAYS safe. I think a nanny is creative and fun, and is constantly looking for opportunities to teach, but also to listen and learn. When something goes wrong, a nanny is adaptable. If a nanny does not know what to do, they make sure that above all, the child is safe. A good nanny does not discipline in any kind of harsh way, they talk with the parents if there is a problem, for advice on how they want the nanny to deal with it.

Additional comments:I look forward to meeting you and your children!!
