Experience: I have been watching over children since I was in middle school when I helped family friends around the neighborhood. In high school I was a nanny for two young girls during the school year and two summers. In addition to being a nanny I also looked after a wide range of children (toddlers and up) as an on-call babysitter. Now in college, I am still looking after children. Experience with the following age groups: The family that I was a nanny for during the year and summer months had two girls with ages 9 and 11. I have also babysat young toddlers as well as few newborns. Working with different ages of children is always a new adventure that teaches me something new. My most recent job was working with a 8 year old boy and 13 year old girl during the summer of 2013. Interests and hobbies:I am a very creative person, always making something new either on my own or with kids. I also enjoy being active, whether it be having a nice picnic outside or running on an outdoor trail. I ran track and cross-country in high school so I am actively trying to be outdoors when the weather allows for it. When the suns not out I love bundling up to spend time skiing or playing in the snow! Describe your childcare style:My childcare style is typically easy going while respecting each family style. I think it is very important to always interact with the children. This allows both the children and I to share and teach each other new things. Engaging with children shows them respect but also compassion. I like to stay organized while looking after children, always keeping in mind their best interest and safety. What activities do you like to do with children:As stated above, I am a very creative person and love to incorporate that into my babysitting. I think allowing children to use their imagination and produce something of their own creation is both important and fun. In the past, I have enjoyed cooking with some of the children I have worked with. It allows them to learn something in a hands-on environment. Playing sports and games is also something I like to do, giving the children the chance to be themselves and to enjoy the day! Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? I am interested in being a nanny because I truly love kids. All of the children I have worked with have shown me something new about myself while allowing me to share things with them as well. It is a very exciting and rewarding job that is different with every child. It is also a huge opportunity to be a friend, peer, or role model to the children and being there for them when they need someone to talk to, confide in, or laugh with. What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?I think qualities such as being communicative, compassionate, and protective are important in a nanny. Putting the childs safety first is a big responsibility and one that should not be taken lightly. Also, I believe a love for kids is a necessity because without caring for others, it is hard to show true compassion and understanding. Being a kid is a very carefree and enjoyable time in life and I am always looking for opportunities to add to those times! Additional comments: |
