Experience: The majority of my experience with children comes from being a Montessori Pre-K teacher. I have taught at a Montessori for 5 years. For the past year, I have been a nanny/mother’s helper.

Experience with the following age groups: I have worked with children 2 to 7 years old.

Interests and hobbies:My interests include anything that has to do with conscious living and relating. I love yoga, being in nature, organic living and eating, reading, dancing, connecting with others, and making sure I take time for self-care.

Describe your childcare style:My style is very much so a combination of my own self education on the world through the eyes of a child with that of the Montessori philosophy. My belief is that it is very important to follow the child. They are their own person, not an empty vessel to be filled up by through the adult. I see children as my equals. I feel a privilege, as the adult, to provide an environment that can contain the emotional world of a child, and let them express themselves and create themselves, as they already possess a great level of intelligence, that many of us as adults tend to loose. As the adult, I do have the privilege of setting boundaries and letting the child feel that I also respect theirs. I believe in mutual respect, between myself and the child. I am also very big on helping guide children in conflict resolution when needed, and in natural consequences. I believe in the balance between not rushing into independence and encouraging the child into self-sufficiency.

What activities do you like to do with children:I love free form art and dance with children. As well as reading, story time, going on walks, taking them into the nature world, letting them get dirty and walk in puddles if they want to, or drop down to their knees in the dirt to look at a flower bud. Imaginative play. Inviting them to help me prepare food, snacks and bake if that is an interest of theirs.

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? It is a privilege, to be an adult, and to enter into the world of a child and find a place of relationship there. I also understand how in todays world, it can get really difficult for busy parents to do it all themselves.

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?Attuned, mindful, able to track her own states of being as she tracks those of the children she is working with. I believe in establishing a good line of communication between nanny and parents. Other qualities that are important are respectful, kind, nurturing, patient, and compassionate.
