I recently completed my masters degree in social work in May 2014. Additional skills or certifications: I am in the process of getting my license to become a school social worker. Additionally, I plan to be certified in CPR before a nanny position begins.
Experience: For the past year, I have been a social work intern at an elementary school. I worked one on one with children, facilitated groups, and participated with the special education team. Last year, I worked one on one with a boy at school who suffered from an undiagnosed disorder. I worked with him on his school work, taught him self regulation strategies, and taught him social skills. I worked at a pre school for a few months. I assisted the teacher with educational activities as well as supervised and played with the children. I volunteered in Costa Rica for a month at a soup kitchen. I provided food for the children and played with them after they ate their food every day. I also had an internship at a center for children who are victims of trauma. The center had an after school program where I helped children with homework, played with them, and served dinner at night. The children were elementary aged children. I worked as a nanny once a week during a summer for a 8 year old in college. I also babysat two boys in high school from ages 4 to 8. Experience with the following age groups: I have worked with children from the ages of 1 to 12. Interests and hobbies:I love to be outside and stay active. During the summer I enjoy hiking, swimming, running, and riding my bike. I especially like doing arts and crafts, including scrapbooking. I enjoy being social and spending time with my friends and family! Describe your childcare style:I like for children to have a schedule or routine so they are in a safe and predictable environment. I enjoy having fun with children in any kind of setting. It is important to me to do a variety activities with children both indoors and outdoors. I like working with children educationally if needed as well in a more relaxed setting. What activities do you like to do with children:I love doing a variety of activities with children. I like to color, do arts and crafts, and draw with children. I love taking children to the pool, park, going on walks, and going on bike rides with children during the summer months. I also like being creative with children and making up our own games or playing pretend. I am willing to do any sort of activity with a child!
