Experience: I recently earned my graduate degree in Masters of Education: Elementary Education from the University of Minnesota and obtained my Colorado Interim Authorization license in Elementary Education K6. I am currently completing my second year of teaching as a 2nd grade teacher at an Elementary School. I established a safe classroom environment that included logical consequences, transitions, specific behavioral feedback, and behavior interventions. The environment fostered my strong relationships with my students. For the past 9 years, I have been working with children. Prior to teaching 2nd grade I completed numerous educational clinicals in all elementary grade levels. Each clinical had an area of focus, including Special Education, teaching English Language Learners, and reading intervention. I spent two summers as a full time nanny for a family with two children and also assisted teachers in a summer school program. In addition, I worked as an educational intern in Port au Prince, Haiti working with elementary school students and infants in orphanages. I have extensive experience caring for infants and toddlers, as I've spent a lot of time taking care of my 1 year old nephew since he was born. I also babysat many families with infants and toddlers since the age of 13.

Experience with the following age groups: I have experience with children ranging from ages Birth through 12 years old. I babysat and nannied for children of all ages (infant through 12 years old). I am licensed to teach Kindergarten through 6th grade in the states of MN and CO. (M.Ed K6) I have teaching experiences in all elementary grade levels.

Interests and hobbies:When I am not having fun playing with children and teaching, I enjoy trying new restaurants and food with friends and families as well as experimenting with cooking. I am passionate about spending time outdoors. I love hiking in the local foothills and bike riding around Boulder I love music and enjoy going to concerts to watch singers perform live. You can find me walking up and down Pearl Street, people watching and enjoying fresh air. I enjoy spending time at local coffee shops alone or with a friend. I absolutely love being a teacher and working with students and their families. I am innovative and am always looking for new and engaging ways to influence the lives of children and their love of learning. I enjoy finding new ways to integrate technology to enhance learning and teaching children 21st century skills.

Describe your childcare style:The most critical part of my childcare is getting to know the children I work with. Immediately building rapport with children and their families will promote trustworthy relationships and open communication with the children. I spend time learning about them as individuals and as learners including their interests, needs and social and academic readiness. I like to provide a balance of activities with children depending on their age and developmental readiness. I strongly promote physical activity but also believe free unstructured quiet time allows their creativity to unfold. Children learn by doing and I promote inquiry and curiosity in daily activities. As a former elementary teacher, I view almost everything as a learning opportunity and almost anything can be fun. I am loving, energetic and compassionate while also being firm with limits and directions when necessary for safety and learning.

What activities do you like to do with children:I provide a wide variety of activities depending on their age and developmental appropriateness. Outdoor activities such as bike rides, walking, swimming, picnics, parks, sports, exploring nature, playing in the snow. LOTS of arts & crafts, anything hands on. Socializing with other children as much as possible. Play dates and meeting new friends at the park. Using our imaginations and exploring new places. Zoos & museums Teaching & learning activities: reading, writing, science, technology integration, mathematics, blocks and shapes, storytelling, and making music.

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? I am very interested in obtaining a nanny position! I am caring, professional, experienced and dedicated. My educational experiences have provided me with the fundamental strategies to promote and support academic and social growth in children. In addition, I possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills that would make me a valuable addition to any family. I have the ability to understand children and be patient with their needs and readiness. I enjoy their constant curiosity and love watching them grow on a daily basis. I want to continue influencing the lives of children of all ages and be a healthy, reliable role model in their lives.

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?I believe the best nannies are punctual, reliable, educated, energetic, patient, disciplined, persistent, imaginative, flexible, empathetic and passionate about the well being of children.
