Experience: I grew up with a brother three and a half years my junior. I often watched over him as we paraded around our neighborhood after school. In high school, I helped coach his soccer team. It was my first experience building a role model relationship with younger children and it was quite a learning experience. In 2012, I baby sat for two children, 3 to 6 year olds. I watched them for several months, picking them up from school and building a positive after school routine for them. The younger had just been diagnosed with ADHD and was highly energetic. I worked with the mother to develop activities to help him stay engaged and active. I enjoy the out-going energy and novelty that children embrace so enthusiastically. I currently work for the School District. In the mornings, I work as a para educator in a lower elementary classroom. I give small group instruction in reading and writing as well as one on one study support in reading, writing, and math. I also oversee the students during lunch at recess. In the afternoons, I work at an Elementary school as staff support for School Age Care. We oversee general play activity on the playground as well as organize group activities for the kids to engage in. We work on activities that helps students build social and moral development skills. We also supervised the children this year on full day field trips to the roller rink and the Denver Zoo.

Experience with the following age groups: 5 through10 years old

Interests and hobbies:I enjoy an active lifestyle. My hobbies include biking, hiking, and recreational athletics. I am also an active musician who enjoys playing and sharing music with others. I play both guitar and piano and love seeing live music.

Describe your childcare style:I like to build positive relationships with children based on mutual respect. I believe that respecting the wants and ideas of a child helps them to develop their creative, critical thinking skills as well as give credit and value to their decision making. I also believe a good caregiver models proper behavior for a child and identifies what proper behaviors are acceptable and what behaviors are not. I like to have fun and engage with children and create an open, communicative environment for them to enjoy and develop in.

What activities do you like to do with children: I like going for walks through town, taking hikes in the mountains, and exploring new terrains. I also enjoy playing sports with kids and actively working on their skills sets. For more relaxed activities, I enjoy watching movies and documentaries, reading books and magazines, coloring and creating art, learning new skills, or discussing new, fun topics for kids to learn about.

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? I enjoy the care free lifestyle that a childs paradigm holds. I like engaging in fun activities and observing how children are seeing and learning from their environment. Likewise, I enjoy that moment of inspiration I can give a child by showing them something new and seeing how it shifts their reality.

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?Having patience, good listening skills, an up beat, fun attitude, responsibility, and nurturing.
