Experience: I have been babysitting since age 12. In high school, I assisted at my dance company with younger ballet classes. My senior year of high school, I worked at a daycare with children ages 1 through 4. Throughout college, I was a part time nanny for two girls, ages 8 and 11 when I started. After college, I worked with elementary aged students at a summer reading clinic. I then worked as a paraprofessional with children grades K through 5. During this year, I was also a part time nanny for third grade boy and girl twins. I then nannied the twins full time during the summer. At the end of the summer, I became a preschool teacher for a 4 year olds class. After this, I became a full time nanny for boy and girl twins, age 17 months, and their older brother, age 4.

Experience with the following age groups: All age groups, infant, toddler, preschool, school age.

Interests and hobbies:I love being outdoors. My favorite things to do are run, walk, hike, camp, and bike. I have recently gotten into yoga and have been appreciating all of its benefits. I like cooking, reading, and traveling. I really enjoy music and am often at live music events. I have a yellow lab and have a strong love for animals, especially dogs. I love meeting new people, learning new things, and having new experiences.

Describe your childcare style:I believe adults learn as much from children as children learn from adults, so that is something I always keep in mind. I try to help children learn to be as independent as possible, while still providing them with the nurturing care they require. If a child does something wrong, I work with them to help them understand what it is they did and why it is wrong. I believe I provide fair punishment when punishment is needed, always following the parents direction and style. I strive to provide an environment where children learn and grow while being as happy and having as much fun as possible.

What activities do you like to do with children:I love being outdoors, whether it be a walk around the neighborhood, a visit to the park, a trip to the pool, a bike ride down the street, or anything else. I also enjoy educational outings to libraries, museums, etc. I like teaching children new things, depending on the age, it could be learning to use a crayon, recognizing sight words, learning the basics of cooking, or helping with homework they may be struggling with. I also like simple, low key activities such as reading books and playing games.

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? Being a part of a childs life at such a crucial stage as childhood is such a special and rewarding experience. I have created some very outstanding bonds with not just the children, but the entire families I have worked with. A nanny becomes a valued and important member of the family, just as the family becomes so important to the nanny. I am amazed by children every day and it is an incredible feeling knowing I directly impact their lives as much as they impact mine!

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?I believe a nanny needs to be nurturing, confident, understanding, organized, outgoing, patient, enthusiastic, and open minded.

Additional comments:I am moving to Denver from Nashville for new experiences and people. I fell in love with Colorado the first time I visited and I am beyond thrilled I have made the decision to start a new chapter there. I am so excited to find the right family to begin my new adventure with!
