Experience: While my experience as a nanny goes back seven years, my experience as a parent goes back 22 years, having raised boy and girl twins 18, and a daughter adopted at birth, now 22 years old and in college. I have worn many different hats over the years. I have worked as a Girl Scout leader, teachers aid in the preschool classroom at a Montessori school, a 4H horse show mom, chaperoned French and Spanish middle school students to Europe, as well as swim team students on a cultural exchange to Kauai last spring to name just a few things! I feel like I have tremendous diversity and a wealth of well earned knowledge I can offer a family. When my kids were young, I remember feeling grateful my kids were still young, as I didn't think I would enjoy the middle and teen years as much. Nothing could have been further from the truth and I have loved each age and they have taught me something at every turn. I nannied for 4 years for a family with a boy from 10 to 14 years of age. As an only child he became a part of my already existing family. They stopped needing me because he grew up! The next family had a boy 10 with dyslexia and ADHD and a girl that was 13.I then nannied for 1 year for a family with a 2 year old boy and a 4 year old girl with sensory issues.. They moved into preschool and kindergarden. Currently, I am employed with a family with 11 month old twin girls . I have taught everything from potty training to bike riding and I have the ability to put 2 babies down for a nap at the same time! . Additionally I have kept households running by preparing meals, children's laundry, and basically try to help in whatever way I can to maintain the family schedule.

Experience with the following age groups: I am comfortable with all ages, including infant twins and special needs.

Interests and hobbies:I am interested in physical fitness and my kids and I participate in the Bolder Boulder every year. I love nature and hiking, skiing and being on or near any body of water. I have always been a big animal lover and we have 3 dogs and a cat and a horse that lives in our neighborhood. I love to read and I especially love music of all kinds and grew up playing piano.

Describe your childcare style:I have taken several workshops over the years in child parenting, but my favorite has always been Parenting With Love and Logic. It allows a child to learn the consequences of their actions. I have used a time out chair and distraction for discipline for very young children. My goal is to help them become compassionate, thoughtful people in the world.

What activities do you like to do with children:I love reading to young children and doing arts and crafts projects with them. I like to stay active and find that kids do well when they have a consistent routine. I believe structure is very important for kids. I usually like to do an activity in the morning at the park or playground and then home for lunch, a little down time in the afternoon and then another activity closer to home in the afternoon such as arts and crafts, games or playing outside. I believe children should have choices and I involve them in the planning!

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? I enjoy working as a nanny because I am good at it and my life changed forever for the better when I had kids. It is not easy raising kids today and if I can help another family by supporting them, then I feel like I have done something significant.

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?Qualities that are important in a nanny are empathy, intelligence, creativity, patience, organization , stamina and fitness, and most importantly a sense of humor because you will find yourself laughing at the silliest things!

Additional comments:I look forward to meeting your family!
