Experience: I began babysitting kids when I was a teenager. My first nanny position was for two adorable children when I was 18 years old. I became the neighborhood nanny and would care for all the kids on the block, at times having up to six children under the age of 6. As a nanny I was with the same family for at least a year and many families for more than a year. I was involved in the development of the children as I read to them and helped potty train children. In Chicago I cared for a sweet little boy when he was 4 months old until he was 2.5. The only reason I left the family was because I was moving out of state for school. I love all ages of children and exploring the world with the child(ren). I have been the caregiver for anywhere from one child to six children at a time. Through Nannies of the Rockies I found a wonderful family and watched an amazing 18 month old boy who is now a fun and loving two year old.

Experience with the following age groups: I have nurtured infants from the age of 2.5 months old through children who are 12 years old. Most of my care has been for children who are 1 year to 6 years. I have experience with twins. I have experience with school aged children and assisting them with homework help as a summer nanny for the same family for two summers in a row.

Interests and hobbies:I love exploring the outdoor world with walks in the park, skiing, snowboarding, rollerblading, riding my bike, and swimming. I also really enjoy reading, school, therapy, art, yoga, meditation, spirituality and relaxing.

Describe your childcare style:I enjoy engaging children on their developmental level. I come down to their eye level and play with them. I like playing with the toys the child picks out. I love using imagination and helping children develop their imagination. I like to have fun with kids. I know that children need activity to express their energy. I find it important to have time each day for active play, like running around outside, going to the park, and riding bikes. For full development a child needs physical and mental stimulation. It is important to allow the child to expand their mind through reading and conversing with the child. I always talk to children with the full breadth of appropriate language. If there are words a child does not understand I help them learn what new words mean by explaining and defining the word in a way they can understand. I treat children as full human beings. A child is as much a human as an adult. I respect children and guide them with love. Boundaries are very important for appropriate development of the child. I set boundaries and remind the child of what the expectations are for a certain setting, so the child can learn social behaviors in different settings. I see life as a time to learn and grow. There is always something else to learn through life. Children are constantly learning about their environment and I am learning from the child a new way of looking at the world. I enjoy being attentive to the child. I use redirection when a child is doing something that could danger them. Consistency is important for a child so I enjoy talking with parents to find out what the parents do in certain situations so I can join the parent’s team and best support the child.

What activities do you like to do with children:I love being engaged with children in the activities they love the most. I like being outdoors at parks, riding bikes, playing hide and go seek, kicking around soccer balls, playing baseball, or any other outdoor activities. I enjoy swimming and being in water with children. When the children are old enough for places like amusement parks I like going out and having fun with them. I also enjoy outings to museums. I enjoy days at home where we play with the child's favorite toys and have an easy laid back day. I absolutely love reading to children, right before nap time, in the morning, after nap, anytime the child wants to read I am all in. I enjoy going to the library with children. I am very creative and love seeing the ways in which children use their creativity. I like to express myself through drawing and painting and encourage children to express themselves by drawing, painting, and making other art projects.

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? I love children and how they express themselves. Children are amazing at exploring and seeing the world with awe and wonder. I love developing a relationship with children and assisting them to thrive in life. I want to continue to be a nanny to allow children the opportunity to discover who they are and live authentically. Children have an innate ability to live simply and joyfully. I want to assist children in living the most joyous life they possibly can in hopes that having experiences of wonderment and awe as a child will help them remember and learn how to live authentically as an adult. I want to work with children because they are absolutely amazing!

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter? It is important that a nanny be a caring, attentive, and patient person. Being able to come to quick solutions for problems is very helpful. A nanny should enjoy the company of children and engage with children on a developmentally appropriate level. To engage in a developmentally appropriate level it is important the nanny have some knowledge of the growth and development of children. A nanny needs to be a person who works well with a family. The nanny needs to work in conjunction with the parents to raise the child in the structure the parents have set up to provide consistency for the child. When parents are unsure of what to do the experience the nanny has can come in handy by talking with the parents about ways the nanny has seen other families solve situations, such as potty training, time outs, and eating habits. To care for a child a nanny needs to be flexible and able to flow with the changing nature of a child on a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly basis. A nanny needs the ability to care-front a child. To care for a child there are moments when the nanny needs to be firm with boundaries for the child while making certain the child knows s/he is loved completely. Love is not taken away because of an action the child does, love is consistent and unconditional. A nanny needs to express love for the child and keep the child safe as the child explores the world.

Additional comments:I love life and am excited to meet your family! I look forward to being engaged in your family. There is nothing sweeter than caring for a child.
