Experience: For the past ten years, I have had the great pleasure of working with children. Most recently, I was a preschool teacher for children ages 2 through 6. This was an outdoor program that focused a great deal on getting kids outdoors to explore nature and their own creativity. Before that, I taught preschool for one year in a more traditional setting with children ages 2 to 5. At that same preschool center, I also worked part time in the infant and toddler room. For three years, I tutored and mentored in after school programs with children ages 6 through12. As a young teenager, I helped my sister raise my nephew from birth, where I learned the importance of being a responsible and nurturing caregiver. In between all of these positions, I babysat for many of my preschoolers families, and other families through their high recommendations. Currently, I am in my second year of grad school where I will be obtaining an M.A. in Transpersonal Counseling. My internship focus is with children, where I will be training to become a registered play therapist post graduation. I have a great deal of knowledge in child development, social and emotional well being, and I not only invite, but highly value creativity, nature, and physical activity. Experience with the following age groups: ALL ages from Birth to 18 years old. Interests and hobbies:I am a lover of the great outdoors. I enjoy walking, hiking, swimming, volleyball, and simply the joy of being outside. I am very creative, and encourage creativity with children. This may include arts and crafts with household items, painting, making collages, drawing, or dancing. I am also a lover of music. I try to live mindfully and respectfully to all living things. When not working or in school, I enjoy spending time in the mountains with my dog! Describe your childcare style:FUN, creative, energetic, and responsible. I practice a mindful lifestyle, so that brings calmness and kindness to my personality and my work with children. I believe that children teach me something new every day, and I highly value them as individuals in our world. I was born a caretaker, but I also value teaching children to trust their own inner strength and resiliency, and aid in the process of self-empowerment and teaching a positive self image. I am very attentive to the needs of a child, and I believe I hold a great balance that integrates learning, creativity, comfort and growth. What activities do you like to do with children:I am most interested in the preference of the child, as I want to embrace their own decision making and interests. Personally, I love being outside. Play is most important, whether that be fantasy play, sports, dancing, etc. Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? I am deeply passionate about my work with children. I am committed to creating an atmosphere of comfort, safety, growth, and exploration. Children tend to easily connect with me, and I attribute this to my qualities of nurture and kindness. What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?Kindness, flexibility, responsible, energetic, nurturing, patient, and organized. Additional comments:I take my work seriously in the sense that I am highly responsible, knowledgeable, and organized. With that, I am also extremely kind, playful, energetic, and caring.
