Experience: My professional childcare experience began in college when I was hired as the sitter for a family with twins, one girl, one boy. I was their sitter from when they were 2 years old until 7 years old. In my role with this family, I planned creative activities, prepared meals and snacks, escorted them to activities, bathed them, prepared them for bed, and tidied up the house when necessary. This job ended when I graduated from college and received an offer for a full time job. They were a delight to watch grow, and I still miss them dearly. More recently, I was an on call sitter for a Sitter Service where I watched children from many different families from the ages of infant to 12 years. This was a rewarding opportunity due to the age range of children I worked with and often different families each time. It was essential to be prepared with activities or to follow what the parent had planned for the day. Additionally, I grew up in a large family, so I often assisted in the care of my cousins and nephew through sheer love of children. I am comfortable caring for children of all ages from newborn to school age.

Experience with the following age groups: Infant through school age.

Interests and hobbies:I love yoga, live music, dancing, reading, and all things outdoors including hiking, skiing, camping, biking, and kayaking. My hobbies include DIY projects, jewelry making and traveling.

Describe your childcare style:I am a fun loving and creative childcare provider, however I also know that it is important to set boundaries. I believe that it is essential to stimulate a childs growth and development through creative, imaginative and educational activities. I can usually identify a behavioral mishap and can redirect the child before so. I also believe that it is imperative to abide by the parents disciplinary style in order to not confuse the child. I love to plan activities for the children, so they have as much fun as me.

What activities do you like to do with children:Art projects, listening to music, and imaginative play to stimulate their creative side. Reading together, and as much outdoor activities as possible, including including hiking, gardening, swimming, biking, and playing on the play ground. I like going on little field trips to childrens museums, the zoo, etc. My specialty is teaching kids about kitchen safety, hygiene and fun cooking recipes. I believe including children in meal preparation at a young age helps develop their understanding and appreciation of food, and increases their likelihood of trying new foods.

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? I have always had a knack for working with children, and nannying allows me to do so in the most enjoyable way. I am fascinated by the child mind and its ability to retain information. I love being the positive influence that helps shape a childs growth and development.

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter? The most important qualities for a nanny to have are compassion, patience and understanding of a childs behaviors and limitations. Creativity, energy, an adventurous side, and willingness to be on the same level of the child to stimulate their mental health and development. As well as the ability to set clear boundaries.
