Experience: I regularly babysat the kids in my neighborhood since I was 13 years old. After a few years of experience, I babysat for newborn babies and twins. This lead to a nanny position for 8 month old girl twins. We spent our time going on walks, singing songs, going to neighborhood children's book readings, learning the alphabet and the animals, and just having fun each day. I loved the opportunity to work with these girls, and the family and I keep in touch to this day. During the summer I accepted a full time nanny position for 2 year old boy twins. We spent our time playing outside, learning the alphabet and putting letters together to form words, going on walks, craft projects and playing with cars. I also have experience as a part time nanny for 6 month old boy/girl twins. During this time they learned to crawl, eventually walk, learned new words, went on walks outside, and read many books. After moving to Colorado, I had a full time nanny position for a family with two boys ages 3 and 1. This family required an unconditional parenting style, which supports the use of communication rather than discipline.

Experience with the following age groups: Newborns, Toddlers, Preschool, School Aged.

Interests and hobbies:I love to do arts and crafts projects, play piano, sew and horseback ride. I love being outdoors and going on long walks. I am an animal person who enjoys planning fun activities like going to the zoo, museums and parks.

Describe your childcare style:My childcare style is assisting in playful learning. I think it is important to incorporate lessons into everyday playing so that toddlers and children grow to love learning. I think happy and loving environments are very important. I am compassionate and understanding, and I believe that having a set schedule can alleviate a tense situation. I think that communication is very important and that children should feel comfortable talking about how they are feeling. With this said, I do believe that boundaries should be set and adhered to and the parent's wishes followed.

What activities do you like to do with children:I love to plan fun activities to do with children like special holiday art projects, scavenger hunts, going on walks to the park, going to the zoo or museum, or building a blanket fort on a rainy day. For younger babies, I like to go on long walks, read lots of books, sing songs, and be silly.

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? Working as a nanny/babysitter is one of the most rewarding jobs. It is so great to see the babies and children you watch grow up learning so many new things.

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?I think it is important for a Nanny/Babysitter to be compassionate and understanding. With these qualities, both the nanny and the children gain trust and respect for one another.
