Babysitter

Experience: I have 4 years of childcare experience. I began babysitting for my neighbor as a freshman in high school. My first family I cared for had a 4 year old boy and I watched him for 4 years until the family moved out of state. Typically I would make lunch and dinner for him, play games both inside and outside, and help him get ready for bed. The other family I cared for had a 10 year old boy that I watched for 1 year. I watched him for 2 days out of the week which included picking him up from school, taking him to sports practices, and doing activities such as playing games in the house or going to the movies or the pool. I have had experience watching the children in the toddler room ages ranging from 2 to 5 at my church while the parents attended service and various events going on. This past summer I had the opportunity to travel to Peru and spend time playing with kids everyday. This experience really allowed me to bring out my creative side in interacting with the kids.

Interests and hobbies:I love music! This includes dancing and playing the piano. I also love most any sports and to be active such as soccer, volleyball, basketball, and I work out often. I am currently studying a science based major so I enjoy the subjects science and math and can help out in these subjects. I enjoy cooking and learning how to make new meals. I am also big on finding new things to cook that are healthy and delicious! Some of my interests include going out with my friends, going to see a movie, or finding new adventures to go on! I love doing arts and craft and, coloring/painting pictures!

Describe your childcare style:I have a very loving and fun style. I like to create a safe and fun environment where the child feels like they can be themselves. I believe in being loving but firm, if a child is acting out I will start off with a warning, but if the misbehavior continues I will put the child in timeout or take away something such as a toy or privilege. I will follow any rules that the parents specifically have!

What activities do you like to do with children:I love to do activities outside of the house such as playing at the park, going to the movies, the zoo, the pool, or going on walks. I also enjoy arts and crafts or playing games that the children have come up with themselves.

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? I truly love working with kids and being able to spend time with them, and what better job to have than to do what I love!

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?Important qualities are first and foremost to enjoy the company of kids. Additionally, someone who is hardworking, reliable, creative, active, fun loving, and can provide a safe environment are extremely important!
