Level of education: I have a bachelors degree in elementary education from Northern Arizona University and am currently getting an associates degree in a physical therapist assistant program.

Experience: I student taught third grade in 2004. After that I taught eighth grade algebra for a year, followed by eight years of fifth grade and one year of fourth grade. I have since then worked in a daycare setting.

Experience with the following age groups: I have experience with three year olds up to middle school students.

Interests and hobbies:I enjoy spending time with my family, playing my guitar, music, hiking, playing with my dogs, reading, playing Frisbee, playing basketball, and teaching.

Describe your childcare style:I am a loving individual, but can give children clear boundaries when appropriate. I believe in engaging children in activities they enjoy, because young children especially do much of their learning through play. I believe children should be active and outdoors when possible. I very much enjoy working on reading and math with children of an appropriate age. I simply enjoy having fun with kids and providing a supportive environment. My wife has been a nanny for many years as well and we have a great love for working with and teaching children!

What activities do you like to do with children:There are many activities I enjoy doing with children. I like to play outside, play board games, go to parks, go hiking, read, play music, and help with any type of school work.

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? I am interested in being a nanny or babysitter because I simply enjoy working with kids! I have worked with children my entire adult life and am still going strong. I particularly enjoy seeing children learn and develop. It always amazes me what they are capable of when given a supporting environment. I also enjoy getting to know kids on a personal level and seeing the world from their unique view.

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?To work with children you need to have a sense of humor, the ability to be silly, be responsible, be patient, and be a role model. You need to be able to share in the childs curiosity and simple joys.

Additional comments:Along with being a former elementary school teacher, I am also an excellent guitar player and could offer lessons.
