Describe your childcare style:My childcare style is eclectic and is rooted in both my experiences as a child and working with other kids, as well as my educational background in Psychology and Child Development. My approach is very educational in that I explain to the kids why a rule is in place with each reason geared towards the betterment of the child. I also strive to help, guide, and challenge the kids to grow as people by providing age appropriate activities, as well as developing their strengths and providing encouragement and support to work on their weaknesses. My childcare style is also based on the dynamic relationship between the child and me in that the rules, expectations, and how things are done develop through our experiences together. My approach is very much egalitarian, however, sensible rules as well as respect for one another are fostered to ensure a positive, fun, and safe environment for everyone. I accomplish this by using behavioral methods including positive and negative reinforcement to reinforce positive, growth promoting behaviors, and I use time outs or taking things away, with the option to earn them back, to correct poor behavior. Finally, my approach is authoritative in that I provide lots of love and fun, while still maintain boundaries and guidelines. What activities do you like to do with children:I really like to engage in activities that the kids enjoy doing, while also providing new and fun experiences that I think the kids would enjoy and that is health-promoting. The most important thing for me is to limit screen time, so that the kids learn to have fun creating, exploring, and growing in the real world instead of passively absorbing in front of a screen. I love playing outside, creating art and crafting, developing projects and experiments, going to the park after school, playing indoor and outdoor games, and exploring new places! Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? I truly enjoy working as a Nanny because I love seeing the kids grow as people and I enjoy the relationships that develop among the kids, parents, and me. When you find the right fit between a nanny and family, it is extraordinary for everyone involved and it does not feel like work. I guess it feels more like love! What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?Compassion, love, understanding, knowledge and implementation of healthy caregiving practices, a desire to provide the best care possible for each child, a connection between the Nanny and the family, insight into what it is like to be a kid, and a desire to provide a fun, stimulating environment. Additional comments:I look forward to hearing from you! Have a great day! |
