Experience: Through college for four years I was a nanny for one child M-F every other week, picking her up from school at 2 and working until 9. Since college I have worked on and off for families when they needed me, part time and on-call as I was working mainly as a massage therapist and Doula. I also have experience working with children in outdoor educational scenarios, teaching about growing are own food, nature awareness, and environmental protection. Experience with the following age groups: All ages from birth on up, the little girl, Sophie that I worked for in college was 3 when I began working with her and 7 when her family decided to move out of state. Since then I have mostly worked with one child families of children 12 weeks to 3 years old. I also was mentoring a boy that was age 5-7. Interests and hobbies:I am passionate about healthy eating and lifestyle, and have extensive experience with food preparation for families and larger community gatherings. I love movement, whether it be dance, yoga, or hiking through beautiful wilderness areas, or bike rides. I enjoy reading to children and gardening, and am interested in learning more hand skills, weaving, knitting and sewing. Storytelling is a great passion of mine and I believe it is one of the best ways to teach children. I love people and community, and believe that children are our future and so feel invested in sharing with them what I have harvested in my life. Describe your childcare style:I believe that each child is unique and so they style and approach is different based on a child's age and needs. I am a deep listener and intend to meet them where they are at, while weaving in story, song, dance and wildlife excursions as appropriate. Working with babies, I love to sing to them and dance with them. Even at the earliest of ages, children can be imprinted with joy! What activities do you like to do with children:My favorite activity to do with children that are old enough is to be outside being curious about the natural world. I also love to cook, read, dance and sing with children. Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter?
