Experience: I began watching children of several different families in my small town community at the age of twelve. In the past fourteen years, I have watched babies, toddlers, school-aged children, and teens. I have cared for kids individually, up to four at a time. I have worked with kids who have behavioral challenges, ADHD, speaking difficulties, and have been a mediator for siblings who cannot seem to agree. I also have volunteer experience teaching kids 5-7 gardening skills in a community garden project. I currently work with teenagers who have behavioral challenges utilizing art as a coping tool. I have built long-lasting relationships with all the kids I have watched and their families.

Experience with the following age groups: I have experience babysitting children from age ranges of 2 mo. old babies to 13 year olds and have also work extensively with “troubled” teens, ages 11 to 17.

Interests and hobbies:I love to paint, hike, bike, ski and generally just be outside. I was a lifeguard for a few years and enjoy swimming at the pool. My passion is art therapy, which entails facilitating creative environments to engage in the art making process with kids of all ages. I also enjoy writing, reading and playing the piano. I am from a small town and grew up very active in sports such as softball, basketball, cheerleading and dance. I enjoy cooking and maintaining a healthy lifestyle through nutritional choices and exercise.

Describe your childcare style:I believe in a healthy balance between structure and play, creating safe and healthy boundaries, and modeling appropriate behaviors. I am very empathetic and attuned to the needs of others and typically gain rapport with children easily. Though I can be serious at appropriate times, I more generally interact with kids with a light-hearted sense of humor and respect them as individuals.

What activities do you like to do with children:In the past I have enjoyed making art, playing sports, hiking, biking, reading, swimming and playing games with kids. I am certainly willing to learn and engage in any activity the children I am caring for may be interested in; allowing them to teach and explore their voices. I would also help with homework or piano lessons if applicable. I believe in predictability and structure, creating routines, yet allowing a lot of room for spontaneity and play.

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? I love teaching and learning from children, this is one of my passions, which has significantly influenced my choice to become a nanny and sitter as well as an art therapist!

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?I listen and empathize which children, as I believe their opinions truly matter, while keeping their safety in mind. I also believe that being active with kids is important, yet respect their need for relaxation and rest. I believe that parents deserve to have their children in trusting and responsible care, which are qualities I will undoubtedly offer.

Additional comments:I am happy to care for your kids and loved ones!
