Experience: I began working with children as a babysitter and camp counselor. I worked as a nanny for two families during my undergraduate study at University of California, Davis where I studied Human Development. I also interned at the school's lab preschool. After college I was a nanny full time for a family with two children ages 2 and 5. This included overnights, transportation, homework help, extra events. During the summers I also ran a residential summer camp for 3rd graders through high school. I then worked as a preschool teacher for 3 years at a small child development center where I was a lead teacher for 3 and 4 year olds. While currently working on my Masters in Colorado I have taught soccer classes to toddlers as well as teaching a class of 2 year olds at a preschool in Boulder. I also currently intern at a center for play therapy. Experience with the following age groups: Infants through High School including large groups and experience with multiples. Interests and hobbies:I love my dog, hiking with her, exploring Colorado, rock climbing, reading, visiting museums and playing! Describe your childcare style:I am very child based and believe that children get the most out of experiences when it is engaging and directed by them. I hold three simple ideas that we should all be Safe, Kind and Clean/Healthy. Meaning that there is room for exploration and fun yet within the boundaries of those three areas. I also strongly believe in positive discipline and reinforcement. I respect the childrens need to explore and grow and will always find a way to meet their needs in safe and appropriate ways. What activities do you like to do with children:I love being outdoors! Hiking, walking, swimming, going to the park. I also really enjoy learning about new things and being able to do science projects, bake and check out libraries and museums. Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? I love working with children, as evident in my chosen fields of study. While I am in school, I would like to continue working with kids as that is where I find a lot of joy and rejuvenation! What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?A nanny needs to be trustworthy above all else. Communicative with parents, being honest and reliable. When it comes to being with children, imagination, playfulness and flexibility go along way. As well as patience, having a solid sense of patience is beneficial for all!! Working with children is extremely rewarding! Additional comments: |
