Experience: From an early age, I knew I had a passion for education and working with young children. During high school, I chose electives in Early Childhood education and earned my CDA. While earning my BA in Elementary Education at Stetson University, I worked in a daycare as a teacher for 21, 2 year olds. For the following six years, I worked as an elementary school teacher for grades K through 3. In 2015, I transitioned into the field of nannying and have loved the freedom it gives me to work with children outside of the classroom setting. Over these years I have built relationships with so many wonderful children and mastered skills in structure, organization and flexibility.

Experience with the following age groups: Newborn- 10 years

Interests and hobbies:When I am not working, I enjoying spending most of my time outdoors. Whether its hiking, camping or kayaking, nature just has a way of always impressing me! I also take great joy in making crafts for the children in my life. The superhero masks, capes and hair ribbon sculptures were a recent hit with my nieces and nephews! Cooking and gardening is also a passion of mine. Food just seems to taste better when you add ingredients you grew yourself!

Describe your childcare style:The relationships I have with children are founded on love and mutual respect. The environment I create has a proactive approach. When structure, organization and engagement are present, things typically run without a hitch. There are times when negative behaviors do take place a discipline is needed. From picky eaters to violent tantrums, I have encountered many colorful behaviors over the years. When these situations arise, I analyze the situation and use an appropriate method to try and change the behavior. Consistency is key! If the behavior changes positively, conversation and praise is given. If not, the discipline is not working and would need to be modified. When I care for children, whether in the classroom or home, time is spent wisely with exploration and exposure in mind. I love teaching them new things, showing them new places and making precious memories!

What activities do you like to do with children:Activities with children are a way to share passions and quality time. At a young age, it is important to expose children to conversation, literacy and new activities. I am firm in limiting screen time as there is so much more I can offer during our time together. I have spent countless hours planning and creating a vast array of meaningful, deliberate, engaging activities. From silly crafts, to robotics, to glow in the dark tubby time, these hours were well spent as they turned into treasured moments.

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? First and foremost, I would continue working with children in a setting that is less restricted than a typical classroom. I would have loved to have taken them outdoors where we could have hiked, swam and biked. Also, I only had a limited time with my students and it is always difficult to say goodbye after just a short 180 days. Although I was comfortable in my role as a public school teacher, it was hard for me to have to substitute hugs for handshakes. When I transitioned into nannying, I got the freedom to celebrate holidays and cook delicious food together. Nannying offers more opportunities to spend meaningful time creating long lasting relationships with children.

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter? The connection with the family is extremely important, as it takes a village to raise a child. Communication is essential and should be open and honest. A sense of trust should develop where the parents feel secure in knowing that their children are safe, stimulated and a priority in the loving care of the nanny. A quality nanny is also dependable, punctual and organized. They are willing to help out whenever needed and are a great asset to the family.

Additional comments: I am a well organized, clean, detail oriented person with a helpful, nurturing nature. Along with a love for children, I have a soft spot in my heart for animals. Caring for both your children and pets would be a joy!
