Experience: I have eight years of childcare experience. I have worked as a nanny and babysitter with newborns to children 13 years of age. In high school I also attended Outdoor Lab as a high school leader teaching varies classes on hydrosphere, water colors, as well as the special hiking class. At outdoor lab other duties I had as a leader were: overseeing a cabin with 20 sixth graders, acting in a theater skit, and helping children on their first big week away from home. In high school I also was a link leader, I was paired up with a study hall class of freshmen. I was there for them as a role model, I also helped them with varies homework assignments and basically just someone they could talk to when times were tough. Since then I've continued nanny and babysitting throughout my college career with mostly the same families. Experience with the following age groups: Newborns, infants, toddlers, preschoolers up to high school age children. Interests and hobbies:Baking, crafting, hiking, cooking, and running! Describe your childcare style:I like to have structure, homework is a priority as well as chores that have been requested upon doing. I love baking, if the kids can get involved, that is even better. I believe it is important to always keep the children learning and entertained at all times. However, discipline is also very important. I think time outs or consequences are a great way to discipline a child. After a timeout I believe that its important for the child and the nanny to have a conversation about the actions that caused the time out or consequences, and what they could have done to avoid the time out. If the child just isn't getting it I also believe its beneficial for consequences such as some time alone in their room. I believe if you are firm but loving, children respect you and the rules the parents have set for them. What activities do you like to do with children:I love getting children involved in fun activities such as decorating a cake and or cupcakes! Arts and crafts are so much fun. Pinterest has many great ideas, these can be very engaging and take up quite some time. During the winter I like to get a movie from the redox, create a home movie theater, and bundle up inside watching movies and eating popcorn. Board games are great because they get the little ones thinking as well as focused. During the summer I enjoy exploring the mountains on hikes as well as the dollar movies, baking, summer reading programs, festivals and much more! Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? I absolutely adore children, I am going to school to work with children, they mean the world to me! I think it is necessary for children to still have a safe, fun loving environment while their parents are away. Being a positive role model is key and I want to be the best influence possible! What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?A Nanny should always be on time, help keep the house in order as well as maintaining contact with the parents. A nannies job is to provide for the child while his/her parents are away. The parents should be able to trust the nanny with their children life no matter what. A nanny should be kind, loving, caring and most definitely patient. Additional comments:I am excited to meet your family! |
