Experience: It is my pleasure working with children for more than 35 years. Starting in 1990 I served as Center Director for a well respected, employer-supported child care center. I have achieved and maintained national accreditation and high quality ratings, making me acutely aware of well researched best practices for young children. Prior to my early childhood leadership experiences, I worked as a nanny in both live-in and live-out positions. I served as child caregiver, supported household operations, provided transportation, traveled with the family and more. I have also worked as a preschool teacher for young preschoolers.

Experience with the following age groups: In addition to raising my now 20 year old son, I have cared for children from young infancy through 8 years of age.

Interests and hobbies:I delight being in nature, especially on walks. I take photographs, enjoy collecting and archiving mementos and like doing the same with children in my care to document their growth and good times for their family. I am an avid reader and love creating positive experiences for children with books, including reading and making simple books with them. I like exploring architecture and art through travel. One of my biggest pleasures is spending time with family and friends.

Describe your childcare style:I am a patient, responsive caregiver, putting the needs of the child first. I am skilled at reading the cues of young children and am very nurturing and loving with them. I establish a supportive relationship by consistently responding to the child and having age appropriate expectations. Children learn through play, and I learn about their interests and emerging skills through my observations of them. With this information, I plan for fun and engaging activities.

What activities do you like to do with children:Supporting early brain development is critical when working with infants and young children so I engage them verbally and through exploration of their environment. I read to children, spend time in nature with them and provide a variety of materials for creative expression. I cultivate a child's sense of inquiry, including infants, through simple experiments and instructional language. I love asking, "What will happen if .....?" As a caregiver, I encourage a child to develop self-help skills. Through this and other experiences, I encourage a child's healthy self-esteem development, helping them to learn from within that they are unique, capable and worthy.

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? I am eager to return to direct care-giving and serving a family. I know how to blend the important responsibility of child care with the play and fun of childhood. I am confident my experiences and knowledge make me an outstanding candidate.

I collaborate with the family, knowing that a partnership is the best way to meet the needs of the child. I am tidy and organized. My verbal and written communication skills are strong and I consistently report to the family about their child. I have a sense of humor, am calm, flexible, decisive and I am a strong problem solver. I am a creative, fun-loving playmate for children and can be counted on for making good decisions for the child and the household.

Additional comments:I know a care-giving decision is an important one for the entire family, and I will be honored for your consideration.
