Experience: I previously worked on call caring for children in Vail, CO. In the last year I have been on-call with a family watching their four month old and 3 year old boys. I also used to be a dance instructor and taught ballet and jazz to boys and girls ages 2 to 14.

Experience with the following age groups: Infants to teenagers.

Interests and hobbies:I love all things active - which has led me to my current pursuit of a doctorate in Physical Therapy. I am primarily a road cyclist and skier; I also enjoy hiking, jogging, swimming and weight lifting. To relax I like to walk my dog, or paint.

Describe your childcare style:I am very laid back, and am very playful with kids. I love to run around with them and enjoy the fresh eyes they see the world through. It is important for children to develop self esteem; rather than 'take away' or 'punish' if they misbehave, I prefer to redirect that behavior to an acceptable outlet. For example, "We can't throw those inside because they're hard - but we can throw these instead because they're soft."

What activities do you like to do with children:On sunny days I like to take kids to the playground, invent new games to play in the back yard, or go on a walk and pick a bouquet of wildflowers. When stuck indoors we build pillow forts (or leggo, cardboard box, etc.) to read books in, play board games, and sometimes 'freeze dance'.

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? I was raised in a tight knit family, and miss being around everyone's children. Babysitting and being around so many families helps fill this void. Additionally, I plan to have children of my own in the future and just enjoy being around them. I love their playful spirits and entertaining comments about their surroundings.

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter? The most important quality is having a love and appreciation for working with children. From this quality stems patience and understanding that all children are different, and require unique approaches. A game or form of "bribery" for one child may be ineffective with another, which is why having flexibility is crucial.

Additional comments:I have worked with children in varying settings for the last decade; my naturally playful spirit and high energy jives well with them. I have also consistently found that children enjoy being around me as much as I enjoy being with them :) Childcare has been a truly rewarding experience for me, and I look forward to continuing my work with them.
