Experience: Caring for children has been a part of my life since I can remember. Starting at the age of 12, I spent my summers working as a mother's helper/babysitter for a family of five children. Later on in life, I continued to pursue childcare as a career and began working as a full-time nanny. I have maintained long working relationships with each family that I have worked for. I love caring for children of all ages and have experience with children ranging from newborns to teenagers. I feel equally comfortable watching an individual child, as I do caring for multiple children.

Experience with the following age groups: Newborns, toddlers, pre-school, K-12.

Interests and hobbies:I live a very active lifestyle and am passionate about the outdoors. I am an avid rock climber, I train regularly and climb outside as often as I can. I also have extensive experience hiking and backpacking. If I am outside I am happy! I am also passionate about the arts, particularly photography, painting, and woodworking.

Describe your childcare style:I take a very active and engaged approach to childcare. My experience teaching taught me that every child learns in a different fashion. I have, therefore, learned how to adapt the manner, in which, I treat each individual child according to their particular needs. I always approach childcare with patience and kindness. I try to engage a child at their individual level, and challenge them in ways that foster their growth. I believe that incorporating a balance of different kinds of activities is critical for a child's healthy development. A broad range of activities helps a child mature in a multitude of ways. I believe it is important to look at the holistic needs of a child. I believe the incorporation of sports or other active play, traditional games and games designed to engage a child's imagination, reading, and artistic crafts each offer their own unique benefits to a child's development. It is also of critical importance to strike a balance between structure and flexibility when caring for a child.

What activities do you like to do with children:I like to do a broad range of activities with children including, but not limited to: incorporating educational games, designed to stimulate a child's development, sports or other active play, going on walks or other outdoor adventures, playing at the playground, reading and trips to the library, trips to museums and arts and crafts projects.

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? First and foremost, I simply love children, so working with them is an absolute pleasure. On a more personal level, spending my days with children actually makes me more productive in my own creative pursuits. I am an artist and find that I am more creative when I am happy, and spending my days with kids makes me happy!

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?I believe that patience and kindness are important qualities in a nanny. A nanny must also be able to think quickly on her feet and assess risks in potentially stressful situations. Open communication and a mutual desire between nannies and families to create a nurturing, creative and safe environment for all children.

Additional comments:I hope you will consider me seriously for your childcare needs. I am looking forward to meeting with you and caring for your little ones!
