Experience: The first real experience I had with children was with my younger sister. We are 12 years apart so when she was born and growing up I always helped out with her. I started babysitting for other families as soon as I could drive in high school. Once I left for college, I was able to get my first job as an after school nanny. Since then, I have worked for several families as an after school and summer nanny; and before moving to Colorado, I was employed with a nanny agency as an on call and temporary sitter for local and vacationing families in Sarasota, FL.

Experience with the following age groups: Newborn through school age.

Interests and hobbies:Being from Florida, I LOVE all water activities and the beach. I also love skiing (one of the major reasons I'm moving to Colorado)! Besides that, in my free time I enjoy reading a good book, and spending time with my husband and our two dogs, or as we like to call them, "fur-children".

Describe your childcare style:My childcare style is one based upon encouragement, positivity, love, and learning. I personally believe that those four attributes are some of the most important when it comes to working with children. It is so important to encourage children to be as independent as possible, and to learn from their own trials and tribulations. However, it is also so important to be there to guide children as they work through those difficult situations. By creating a positive environment and encouraging a child to persevere until they succeed, they will learn knowledge that could not be just taught to them. When I am taking care of children, I strive to be as active and engaging as possible as I want your children to enjoy their time spent with me.

What activities do you like to do with children:I enjoy doing outdoor activities like taking a walk, visiting a local park, or swimming. I also try to get children engaged by doing arts and crafts, board games and puzzles. I love to read, so I'm also always trying to encourage children to develop the same passion.

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? I'm interested in working as a nanny/babysitter because children are truly delightful to work around! They have such a unique perspective on the world around them and I can only hope to be a positive influence in their life.

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?I believe that the most important qualities in a nanny/babysitter is that one must be communicative, patient and positive. Communication is constantly needed to not only ensure the safety of the child; but, to also effectively communicate with the parents. Additionally, patience is essential when working with children. It is quite easy for a child to get frustrated, excited, or anxious, all situations in which the nanny must remain patient an calm. A nanny's behavior cannot be conditional on her feelings, especially since children are known to mimic behaviors.

Additional comments:I look forward to meeting you!
