Experience: I have been/currently a nanny for 6 years for 2 families. I worked at a daycare for 2.5 years in a two year old class. I am currently a 3 year old preschool teacher. I teach a 3 year old Sunday school class. I lived overseas in Indonesia and volunteered at a private school for 6 months. I also have participated in 2 trips overseas working with Children with disabilities. Along with a summer internship in D.C. working at a respite center for kids with disabilities.

Experience with the following age groups: Newborn to 15 years.

Interests and hobbies:I love to travel, cook/bake, try new things, and adventuring outdoors!

Describe your childcare style:I believe that in order to make a child feel safe, secure, and loved you need to create an environment where they have the freedom to be honest. They need to know that I will always listen first. I also believe in schedules and structure. Children respond so much better when they know what to expect throughout the day. I believe that my role is to just love them like they are my own, which would be unconditional.

What activities do you like to do with children:I love to do learning activities or manipulative. I always have an activity or craft planned for each day. I love being outside with kids and letting them explore. I also love to get messy and let them be kids! They are only kids once, so the more fun the better!!

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? I love being a nanny. My husband and I are not able to have children of our own. So, being a nanny gives me a glimpse into the dream of motherhood like I have always wanted. My passion is children and I thoroughly enjoy my job because I grow to love these children like they are my own. They become family, and I honestly feel like it's one of the most rewarding jobs you can have.

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?I believe patience, compassion, and the ability to listen are very important qualities for a nanny to have. You can have all the knowledge of the world but if a child doesn't feel safe then that child will not thrive to their fullest potential. I also believe that it is important for a nanny to understand that although they may spend a lot of time with a child they are not that child's parent, so therefore punishment is very different. I firmly believe in resolving issues, but that can be done with a simple timeout or talking it out.

Additional comments:In 2012 I was involved in a horrible car accident that resulted in me loosing my left arm. I am very determined and knew from the very beginning I was not going to let it stop me. I went back to work/driving 6 months after. I went to Africa a year later, and then China the next. I can do everything on my own and I can even braid hair! I use my "disability" as a learning tool for children. They need to know that you can actually do anything you set your mind to. You may fail several times, but that is what makes the victory even more worth it!
