Experience: I grew up often taking care of my 2 younger sisters. I also babysat for 3 boys quite frequently throughout high school, and at the time I started there was one infant, and twin toddlers. I then was a live-in nanny for a year, and the children were 2 and 5 at the time I started. After that, I nannied part time for a family, (while also working at a hospital and in college), who had a 10 month old for about 8 months, until the mother decided she wanted to become a stay at home mom with her newborn twins. I also occasionally babysat for a family of 4 kids, who at the time I started were 2, 4, 8 and 9, as well as several numerous occasional babysitting jobs. I've also worked as a teacher at a daycare, with children aged 6 weeks - 3 years for several months, (mostly in the newborn room). Lastly, I've worked in hospitals on mental health units over the past 3.5 years, in which I've worked on an adolescent unit, (ages 11-17), as well as the adult units.

Experience with the following age groups: Newborn, infants, toddlers, preschoolers, school age, adolescents, and adults.

Interests and hobbies:I love reading books, learning/taking courses, listening to music, doing yoga, being outdoors in the sunshine, hiking, running, playing sports/being active, eating organic/plant based foods, relaxing, spending time with my 2 cats, visiting my family, and living a healthy, holistic lifestyle.

Describe your childcare style:My childcare style is very nurturing and engaging. I enjoy spending a lot of 1:1 time with the children, showing they're cared for, as well as doing fun and engaging activities, away from technology. I also think it's great when there is a consistent schedule and the parents know what the nanny and child did all day. For example, in two of my previous nanny jobs, there would be a notebook where both the parents and I would write down what we did with the child(ren) throughout the day; such as when they woke up, ate, went to the bathroom, napped, what exact activities were done, etc. I also enjoy planning out activities for the children to be engaged, entertained, and yet provide some education too, and when age provides, I'm also very open to being flexible to hear what they'd like to do. Overall, I want the children to be safe, develop and learn, have fun, and feel well cared for.

What activities do you like to do with children:I would tailor the activities to their age, but overall I enjoy reading with them, singing/listening to developmental music, doing arts and crafts, playing outside, doing learning activities such as colors and numbers, tutoring/helping with homework, and taking them to other events/outings occasionally. I am very open to hearing what types of activities the children enjoy/prefer to do, from both the parent and children, (when age appropriate of course).

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? I don't yet have children of my own, but I always have cared for children as if they were. I love feeling like I'm making a positive impact, and just being around children really gives me a sense of joy. It's amazing to see the growth that happens through nannying; physically, mentally, and emotionally. I also love bonding with the children and getting the feeling that I'm a part of the family, (especially when my family is out of state).

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?I think it's very important for me, (or any nanny), to be responsible, keep the children safe, have a nurturing personality, be truly compassionate, trustworthy, reliable, and have patience.

Additional comments:I look forward to meeting you. : )
