The nanny has the following experience:

I began babysitting when I was in junior high school. I started watching neighbors and friends children and just continued from there. I grew up in a large family and every time there was a new addition I was always the first one to show up, ready to help. I learned a lot at an early age just by watching what adults around me did and mirroring them. I intuitively new at an early age what position to hold a crying baby in to get them to settle down. I worked at my church nursery and with girl scouts babysitting quite a lot. I have watched children between the ages of newborn-13. I worked at a sports camp with children ages 2-13. I was a nanny for a friend of mine who was a single mother while she was transitioning and needed an extra presence to help her and her son (age 4). I am very close with my sisters kids and have watched and cared for them ever since they were born. I have so much enjoyed seeing them grow into the beautiful pre teens they are today. I have a natural ability to connect with children and a lot of times that ends up with me babysitting for the family. I am also a massage therapist and have given massages to children at quite a few different events.

Describe your childcare style:

I am excited to see and learn about each individual child, listening, caring, responsiveness, and gentleness are the ways that I usually go about getting to know and relate to children. They need teachers to match and I believe nothing is better than being a good role model of appropriate behaviors such as kindness, respect, and a genuine interest in getting to know them as the individuals they are. That being said, I also do not have a problem being firm when boundaries need to be set. We all need to work together to create a safe, fun space to relate and learn in and I am there to make make sure that happens. I believe in keeping clear, open communication lines with the parents. I want to be working in accordance with their truth and what they would like for their children.

What activities do you like to do with children:

I love to see what they would like to get involved with and go from there. Some of my favorite activities with children are taking walks, going to the park, going swimming, going to the library, reading, baking, going to museums, exploring, being creative and in the moment with whatever we are doing and talking about what we enjoy about it. I believe anything can be fun, if we need to get serious and do chores that can also be a fun adventure.

Why are you interested in working as a nanny?

I love the energy of children, the lightness, creativity, and love they come with. They are great teachers for us adults as we get older to remember how fun and simple life can be!

What qualities are important in a nanny?

Some qualities that I would bring with me as a nanny are: patience, flexibility, honesty, a positive attitude, respect, a calm strength to handle whatever the situation calls for, reliability, and all around easy going personality.
