Nanny Job Details

Job ID: 5510
Location: Boulder, CO

Please describe your family:
Family of three with a very active schedule. Mom works from Denver sometimes, home on other days. Dad works in downtown Boulder. Our daughter is 12 and has a very active schedule. We also have 3 cats running around the house.

Please describe why you are looking for a nanny:
Our long-time (6 years!) babysitter/nanny is in college, and is taking a summer opportunity overseas. Having a nanny has been a great experience for our daughter, and a lifesaver for our family. Our nanny has really been part of our family, so we are looking to find that special someone to fill that spot for us this summer!

Describe the child(ren) you need a nanny for:
Our daughter is 12 years old, exiting 6th grade and entering 7th grade in the fall. She plays piano and violin and enjoys reading (mostly fiction), playing video games, designing things for the 3-D printer, bowling and mini-golf, as well as swimming, volleyball, and basketball. Whew, that's quite a list! She LOVES animals of all kinds -- she wants to be a vet -- so we hope you are an animal lover! She also has started skiing, and does indoor rock climbing. She is studious, but really enjoys playing with her friends. She also is dairy-free and we mostly eat organic, and although she makes good decisions in this regard, it is something to note if you are shopping, cooking, or eating out.

Describe your home setting: We have a home in South Boulder in the Devil’s Thumb neighborhood, easy for hiking or grabbing the bus to downtown Boulder. We have 3 cats, a nice view of the mountains, and lots of areas nearby for outdoor activities (hiking trails, the South Boulder Rec Center, etc). Mom sometimes works from home in a home office, otherwise she’s working in Denver. Dad works in downtown Boulder. We both travel a lot for our jobs, but one of us will always be in town on any given day.

We are interested in the following:
Babysitter
Nanny, Summer
Nanny, Temporary

Full-Time/Part-Time?
Full-time

How long do you need a Nanny?
Less than 6 months

Live-in/Live-out?
Nanny, live-out

What tasks/errands do you expect your nanny to perform?
As part of our family team, you will be helping our daughter with her active schedule. This includes taking her to and from summer camp, piano and violin lessons, cooking lunch (or going out sometimes), and coordinating (and participating in) fun summertime activities (swimming, mini golf, friend playdates, etc). Logistically, we use a shared calendar to coordinate things, and expect during-the-day chat/text/phone communications as needed.

What activities do you want your nanny to do with your child?
Aside from the aforementioned tasks, we would really appreciate a fun-loving, hands-on nanny, able to participate in activities as much as possible.

What special certifications/requirements are you looking for?
CPR certification required.

Does this position require a valid driver's license?
Yes

Does this position require a car?
Yes

When will this position be available?
6/11/2018

How many hours do you need a nanny for?
From June 11 through Aug 3, Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm (minor adjustments from time to time as needed), with the opportunity for occasional evening or weekend hours.

How much are you willing to pay? Do you offer benefits?
$20-$25/hour

Do you have any pets or animals in your home?
We have 3 cats.

What else are you looking for in a nanny?
There are a few big things here. Being safe with our daughter, especially when shuttling her around and being aware of surroundings, etc. Being organized and prompt with the schedule, being flexible when schedule changes happen and being a great communicator are all important. It probably goes without saying, but making sure your focus is on our daughter, and not other distractions (texting/talking with friends, etc) is important. At the same time, we really are looking for someone to get involved with the activities, have fun, and be a great mentor for our daughter. Our current nanny is really a part of our extended family; we would like our new nanny to be as well.
