Nanny Job Details

Job ID: 5655
Location: Niwot, CO

Please describe your family:
We are a happy family of four who love spending time outside. Some of our favorite activities include hiking, fishing, camping, riding bikes, gardening, and swimming in lakes. Mom and Dad are both scientists and we love helping the kids learn new things. We also love playing and watching sports and are teaching the kids baseball and soccer. We enjoy home improvement projects and cooking.

Please describe why you are looking for a nanny:
Before the pandemic started, our daughter was in a high-quality daycare and our son was at a Montessori preschool that we love. The Montessori closed through the Summer and we wanted to limit our exposure to the virus, so we have been keeping both kids home. We anticipate that our son's school will only be able to provide part-time attendance in the coming school year, as they must limit group size and rotate student groups. Since toddlers love sharing germs and our son can only attend his school part-time (and it may close altogether during the school year), a nanny is the best option for our family to have a stable, consistent life while the pandemic persists.

Describe the child(ren) you need a nanny for:
Our 20-month-old daughter is a notoriously happy girl with a big smile and a lot of personality. She's a big ham and very sweet. She does her best to keep up with her older brother. She loves reading books, climbing on things, and participating in whatever the rest of us are doing. Our son will be 5 in July and has transitioned from being a little boy into being a kid. He loves riding his bike, walking on trails, looking for insects, trucks/trains/cars, and Legos. Recently we have been reading about space, animals, weather, and the oceans.

Describe your home setting: We live in spacious 3-level house with large front and back yards. Our neighborhood is a golf course community surrounded by open space, so there are lots of opportunities for walks around the neighborhood and trails. There are two playgrounds and a swimming lake with a great sandy beach. At home we have a sandbox, a variety of bikes and scooters, a water table and a kiddie pool.
Mom transitioned to working-from-home when the pandemic started and plans to do so indefinitely. Dad still works on-site in Longmont. Mom works in the home office on the main level of the house. The kids understand that she is working and are good about limiting visits.

What tasks/errands do you expect your nanny to perform?
Anything child care related (laundry, etc.). We would like our nanny to ensure that activities used throughout the day such as toys and art supplies are put away. We ask that you prepare and clean up lunch and snacks for the kids, such as a sandwich and sliced fruit and veggies. When/if kindergarten starts for our son, we may ask our nanny to drive him to and/or from kindergarten in Boulder 2-4 days per week.

What activities do you want your nanny to do with your child?
We are looking for a nanny who can balance and alternate engaging activities for each child. For the toddler, we want a nanny who will sing songs, make it fun to learn colors and numbers and shapes, do age-appropriate art activities, build with blocks, do imaginary play, play with water and sand, dig in the dirt, explore the garden and help develop her physical coordination and strength. For our rising kindergartener, we want a nanny who will provide fun, physical play as well as supplement his kindergarten learning. When our toddler takes her afternoon nap, we would like the nanny to spend 30-60 minutes on focused kindergarten-level lessons with our son, such as learning to read and write activities and basic math and counting. We would also like this nap time to be used for more involved art-activities or projects like building with Legos. Our nanny must love reading kid books, which we do a lot. Our ideal candidate will want to go on daily walks around the neighborhood, visit the playgrounds, and generally spend a lot of time outside, exploring and playing in the yard. Occasional cooking projects, like cookies or muffins, would also be fun.

Additional comments:
We are taking the pandemic seriously and are doing our part to stop the spread. We practice social distancing, wear masks in public, and wash our hands upon arriving at the house. Currently, we have a very limited social circle, which includes grandparents. We want to protect both the kids and our older family members who live nearby, and we want to be good citizens in the community. We are looking for a nanny who will partner with us in that effort. We look forward to meeting you!
