Nanny Job Details

Job ID: 5659
Location: Broomfield, CO

Please describe your family:
We are a family of four with a 2 year old girl and a 3 month old baby boy. We have lived in DC, VA, MI, and South Korea, and have finally settled in CO. We love travel and adventure, the outdoors, reading, music, and sports. Mom and Dad are both engineers so we also love science, exploring and experimenting. We also do not take ourselves too seriously and have great senses of humor, and love to laugh!

Please describe why you are looking for a nanny:
The reason we are looking for a nanny is, honestly, due to the pandemic. We had a nanny when our daughter was a baby, and we lived in Michigan, but once we moved to CO, we enrolled her in Montessori because she has a lot of social anxiety and we were expecting a new baby. She was doing well there, but then the pandemic hit. And now that we have an infant at home again, we feel the flexibility of a nanny is our best option since both my husband and I work full time from home. Therefore, we are looking for a nanny for the health and safety of our family, and also for the best interest of our kids since, my husband and I are merely parents, and not trained professionals when it comes to our kid's education and development, despite reading a lot of parenting books.

Describe the child(ren) you need a nanny for:
We have a 2 year old daughter who is a lot of fun once she gets comfortable around you. She has a bit of stranger anxiety. She loves bugs, looking for them, capturing them, letting them go. She also enjoys being scared for some reason, ghosts, anything art related, and reading. Our son is 3 months old and is just starting to show a personality and get beyond the blobby stage. Compared to his sister, he is pretty chill, thank goodness.

Describe your home setting: We live in a great neighborhood with a lot of kids, trails, and green spaces. There is also a community rec center. Our living room and basement are the places our kids play the most.

We are interested in the following:
Babysitter
Nanny, Permanent

Full-Time/Part-Time?
Full-time

How long do you need a Nanny?
1 Year

Live-in/Live-out?
Nanny, live-out

What tasks/errands do you expect your nanny to perform?
For the most part we are looking for mainly childcare and then any tasks related to the children, such as preparing their meals, and cleaning up after them/getting her to clean up after herself. Since both my husband and I work from home, we will do laundry and food prep during our lunch breaks and we have house cleaners who come every other week for a deep clean. And I am exclusively breastfeeding and not having much luck with the bottle, so most likely I will take care of mealtimes for baby boy. Basically all we ask is that you leave the house in the same shape it was in when you arrived. So, if it's a disaster, we just ask that it's not more of a disaster when you leave!

What activities do you want your nanny to do with your child?
Since the pandemic has taken away a lot of the activities we used to do with our toddler, such as museums, pool, zoo, classes, etc. we are looking for someone who can find age appropriate activities to do with her to further her development and curiosity and nurture her love of art and reading and introduce her to new things while still respecting the restrictions this pandemic continues to impose upon us. For our son, we hope for age appropriate activities that continue to help him hit his milestones and further his development. We would also love activities that involve the two of them together to help our toddler continue to get used to having a new baby brother. As I said, she has stranger anxiety and as far as she is concerned, her baby brother is a stranger who is permanently in her personal space. We would like our nanny to have patience while working with her on this adjustment.

What special certifications/requirements are you looking for?
We require CPR and First Aid Certification. Tdap and Flu shot vaccinations (we will pay for these 2). We would also love someone who has experience with potty-training since our 2 yr old will most likely start this in the next few months. And someone who has experience with an epi pen since our daughter has severe food allergies. However, this is not imperative since my husband and I will be in the home.

Does this position require a valid driver's license?
Yes

Does this position require a car?
Yes

When will this position be available?
Start date is flexible

How many hours do you need a nanny for?
We are looking for a full time nanny M-F for 40 hours for at least one year. If the situation changes, we would still be able to work from home, but perhaps we would include a date night or two. However, for the most part, it will be 40/week. We are very flexible on start times, and would most likely determine it based on when our 2 yr old wakes up, so perhaps 7:30 or 8am start to 3:30 or 4.

How much are you willing to pay? Do you offer benefits?
$26-30/hr. Vacation, Major Holidays, Paid sick days to be to negotiated. Performance bonus.

Do you have any pets or animals in your home?
No

What else are you looking for in a nanny?
We are looking for someone who is patient and can wait out our daughter's stranger danger and can juggle an infant and a toddler. In addition, since the pandemic hit, and I was pregnant and then we brought a new baby home, our schedule has been chaotic. Therefore, she hasn't had the structure or routine in her days that she used to have when she was attending Montessori. So we are also looking for someone to bring that back into the house for her. One of the things we loved about Montessori and one of the reasons we had enrolled her in it, was because one of the philosophies focused on helping the child develop independence, which we would also like to continue. And we are looking for someone who sets boundaries and expectations for her and follows through and has the patience to deal with her reactions when she pushes those boundaries. She is 2!

Additional comments:
This is a very unique time right now with the pandemic and one of our chief concerns is the safety of our family and the safety of our future nanny. We are very strictly following the guidelines of the CDC with social distancing and mask wearing and we expect and will have to trust that our nanny is doing the same when they are outside our home. Therefore, we hope for very open communication and transparency flowing both ways in order to keep everyone safe. And finally, we look forward to meeting you!
