Nanny Job Details

Job ID: 5684
Location: Superior, CO

Please describe your family:
There are three of us: son, age 7 and Mom and Dad.

Please describe why you are looking for a nanny:
We are looking for a creative, fun, energetic and open-minded caregiver. We are looking for someone who will spark joy in our son and help him transition to school this fall (due to COVID, he was home-schooled this year). The job will initially be a traditional at-home nanny job through the summer. When school starts in August, we would like the nanny to work with him in the classroom as an aide, primarily to navigate social-emotional interactions and challenges. We would like the nanny to assist him at school from 8:30-noon (he'll likely be doing half-days at the outset) and then take him to therapist appointments in the afternoon. We expect he'll need in-classroom assistance for the entire school year. We are looking for a nanny who can be playful and creatively incorporate elements of his therapies into play so it feels natural rather than work. Our ideal nanny is very observant, a good listener and willing to take direction from the parents and therapists but also take the lead when needed. We value good communication skills, reliability, and punctuality.

We do not need specific experience and will provide training from the therapists who are part of our son's team. We use the DIR/Floortime treatment protocol with our son, a play-based approach for social-emotional delays, and we will provide extensive training in DIR/Floortime. We would love a nanny who is excited to learn new things and is willing to embrace creative approaches to working with our son.

Describe the child(ren) you need a nanny for:
Son, age 7. He is funny, delightful, creative and very intelligent. He loves reading, especially stories about dragons and magic. He also loves pretend play and forms close bonds with his caregivers. He was born with an extremely rare genetic deletion and has some emotional/social and motor delays. He also has some speech articulation and muscle and joint challenges. Sometimes changes and transitions can be a challenge for him due to sensory processing problems. His care team includes an OT, a PT and speech therapist and we are looking for a nanny who can work closely with them and us to identify any challenges and come up together with strategies for addressing them.

Describe your home setting: A suburban house in Superior close to parks, playgrounds and open space. Both parents work from home in separate home offices.
