Experience: I have been involved in childcare since I was twelve years old. Throughout high school and college I was a nanny for a number of families, ages of children ranging from new born to 16 years, and have enjoyed every minute of it. Currently, I am a pediatric chiropractor and love to be around children!

Experience with the following age groups: infant through preteen

Interests and hobbies:I am a very energetic and outgoing person. I love to hike, swim, run, and camp. I exercise everyday and love to be a part of my community!

Describe your childcare style:My number one priority as a caregiver is to keep the child, or children, happy and comfortable. Each child is different and I feel that a child should express themselves in every way possible. I am not a strict nanny, but I also do not let myself be walked all over by the children. I am fair and reasonable when talking with children and I want to do whatever the child wants as long as it is within reason. My main reason for my job is to care for the child, and I will do so and dedicate my full attention to them while working.

What activities do you like to do with children:During my time with children, love to keep a child active both physically and mentally. Playing games inside or out are always a fun time to be had and keeps a child interested in their day instead of sitting around bored. I would love to take the kids hiking and get them out into their environment around them. Trips to the zoo, museum, mini golfing, the movies, laser tag, are all activities I would love to do with the kids. If the child is a reader, I would love to pick up a book and read along with them and discuss different characters in the book. If the child is interested in putting on shows and dressing up, I would be more than willing to dress up and sing my heart out on a stage made of couch cushions in the living room. Children need to keep an active imagination going, and arts and crafts would be a great activity to do during a rainy day at home. Anything to keep the child happy and engaged!

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? When I was growing up, I loved being a babysitter and never got bored with the children. I am in the process of establishing myself as a chiropractor in the community and look at this as an opportunity to keep myself around children and have fun!

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?I feel all nannies should be in touch with their inner child because the relationship between caregiver and child will grow stronger. The nanny should be a friend to the child but also hold an authoritative figure during the job. Respect for the child is a must have because a nanny cannot expect respect without giving it first. Also, nannies should be patient. Situations when working with children can arise at any moment and they need to be able to react quickly and keep calm. Have a sense of humor, you never know what is to come of the day, but you should always have fun and make an adventure of it all!
