Interests and hobbies:I love getting outdoors and being active (running, hiking, rock climbing, etc.) but also hanging out with my dogs and reading. I love yoga and learning new things.

Describe your childcare style: I believe that it's important for children to have structure and rules, but they also need to know that they are loved and cared for. My education and childcare philosophy is based on positive reinforcement, which means ignoring negative behaviors (unless they are unsafe of course) and reinforcing positive behaviors and giving choices vs. getting into a drawn out argument. I also think it's very important to meet children where they're at to interact with them in an age appropriate way. Young children need to explore and experience their environment, so I believe it's important to expose them a variety of opportunities and give them the space to use their hands and brains to figure things out.

What activities do you like to do with children:It depends on the age, but generally speaking, I like age appropriate hands-on activities and exploring the outdoors. I also like reading with children and playing educational games and activities that encourage thinking and problem-solving, like puzzles. I like singing songs and dancing!

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? I really enjoy working with children and families one-on-one. I love the sense of wonder that comes with seeing the world through a child's eyes and being silly together. I love helping families learn more about their children while watching the children grow and learn.

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter? It's important for a nanny to be flexible, responsible, and able to think on the fly. Nannies should be effective at communicating with both children and their parents. You also have to be patient and kind and above all, genuinely love working with children.
