Experience: I have worked in multiple settings as a caregiver and professional. I babysat through high school and college. I have been a long term nanny for two large families and a family with three children. I ran an orphanage with over 150 children in Malawi, Africa. I worked as a licensed Occupational Therapy Practitioner in an outpatient clinic for children with Autism. At the clinic, I had a caseload of 40 children. One family I cared for had lost their mother recently and I took over as a house manager for four children. I drove them to school, did the laundry, prepared meals, cleaned the home, grocery shopped, drove them to activities and helped them with their homework. The other large family I worked for was a mixed family. The father had 2 children, the mother had 3 children and the they had one child together. Both mom and dad worked full time and I managed the household. I did the laundry, organized the home, drove the children to and from school and activities, grocery shopped, prepared meals, walked the dog, helped with homework and engaged the children in fun and creativity during down time. I was also a nanny for a family of three children and mainly cared for the middle child who had severe Cerebral Palsy. He was in a wheelchair and communicated with an eye-gaze device. I took him to school, helped him participate in the classroom setting, helped him with his interest in music. I also traveled with this family on multiple occasions. I am also a licensed Occupational Therapy Practitioner. I have worked in hospital, school, rehab and Psych settings. I worked for 6 months in an outpatient clinic for children with autism where I had a caseload of 40 children. I attend a camp for children with disabilities in the summer called Camp Wamp in Lake Tahoe. I also ran the operations of an orphanage in Malawi Africa with over 150 children.

Experience with the following age groups: I have worked with children from ages 4 months to 17 years old.

Interests and hobbies:- I play the ukulele - I am a professional photographer - I paint abstract on plywood - I love to garden and farm (I currently have chickens and planning a garden for the coming months) - I foster dogs - I grew up with llamas and horses. My neighbor had llamas and my uncles own horses. - Animal Lover - I love to cook

Describe your childcare style:I strongly believe that children need love, understanding, and positive role models. When a child feels heard and understood it creates a trusting and strong relationship. I always listen to the children and validate their feelings. When they feel heard and understood they are more open and understanding of an adults perspective and guidance. I like to create a trusting relationship with the children and families I care for as a fun and creative environment.

What activities do you like to do with children:It depends on the child/children that I care for. Every child has different interests and all children want to have fun. I like to have one on one time with each child to make sure they have the opportunity to fulfill any interest they particularly have. Otherwise, I am always creating fun games, obstacle courses, scavenger hunts and anything active and fun to make sure the kids are moving their bodies and enjoying themselves.

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? I have been a nanny for over 12 years, I am also a professional photographer with a focus on children. I have a connection with children and feel fulfilled when helping children figure out who they are with confidence. I am a great caregiver and enjoy it more than working in any other position!

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?I believe the most important qualities of a nanny are flexibility, reliability, safety conscious, understanding, creativity and kindness.
