Describe your childcare style:I would describe my childcare approach as warm, creative, and child-led. I strongly believe in play-based learning and allowing children to be active agents in their learning environment, exploring their natural interests and curiosities. I am thoughtful and observant in my approach, building an environment that fosters their cognitive, social, and emotional development. I am patient, kind, and take a positive-discipline approach to encourage positive behaviors.

What activities do you like to do with children: I enjoy getting outdoors with children, to explore nature. Going for bike rides, walks, and to the park. I like to plan fun and engaging arts and crafts activities, and developmentally appropriate educational activities. I enjoy reading to children, doing “science experiments,” and baking treats. I like to play games with them, like hide-and-seek, pretend play, and board games and puzzles. I like outings taking them for outings to the museum or library. I enjoy seeing what they are interested in doing and supporting their interests.

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? My calm and nurturing demeanor makes caregiving a natural fit for me. I like adapting to different family dynamics and trying to understand how I can support that household. I like having the ability to be collaborative, yet creative, and independent. I love working with children for their curiosity, imagination, and because everything is so novel to them, it keeps my inner child alive. It is extremely rewarding to watch a child grow and to be a part of fostering their growth.

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?Great communication Nurturing Reliability Responsibility Empathy Open-mindedness Patience Flexibility and adaptability Engaging Caring

Additional comments:Cancer Care Alliance, Child Life Department September/2016 – May/2017 I worked with young children diagnosed with cancer and their siblings to support their emotional needs through child-directed art and play. Child Group Facilitator August/2013 – June/2014 I worked with children and their families, who had lost a sibling or parent, to provide community and a safe space to process grief. I led bi-weekly discussions with children and participated in arts/crafts and child-directed play. I look forward to finding the next family to grow with!
