Experience: I have 10+ years of babysitting and nanny experience. In that time I have worked primarily with toddlers and preschoolers, but also with infants (including overnight to support babies with colic), school age children, pre-teens/teenagers, and children with differing needs. I have 5 years of experience in Early Childhood classrooms and summer camps working with children 6 weeks- 13 years. In that time I have worked in teams, as a leader, with twins, with gifted children, and so much more. -All age groups -Large groups as well as individual families -Differing needs (physical and mental/emotional) -Infant-2nd grade education and development -Twins -Food allergies and restrictions -Outdoor experiences and Field Trips -Event planning I am happy to help with house manager duties (when it does not interfere with my time with the children) including laundry, organization, light housekeeping, errands, grocery shopping, meal prep etc. Experience with the following age groups: -Infants -Toddler -Young Preschool -Preschool -Pre-K -School Age -Teenagers Interests and hobbies:I love spending time outside in nature! Walking my dog, hiking, white water rafting, photography, camping - if it's sunny I'm there. I also enjoy sitting back and reading any of many genres and watching Netflix. A goal of mine is to start crossing places off of my ever growing travel bucket list. Describe your childcare style:I regularly pull from my teacher education resources. I look at pedagogies like Reggio Emilia, Montessori, Forrest Schools, and Waldorf to learn more and inspire me. I read up on the latest Janet Lansbury and Teacher Tom posts. I always try to find tools and resources that match the needs of the current family I'm with. However, my fundamentals are: (1) Lots of time outside! Even if it's only for 15 minutes on the coldest days! (2) Foster a sense of community and participation through experience and respect conversation. (3) Showing humans of all ages total respect and teaching what that looks like. (4) Following the children's interests. What activities do you like to do with children:I base activities on the age and development of the child. For Infants and Toddlers, tummy time, crawling, walking, gross and fine motor activities, colors, shapes, speech development, music and nurturing are a part of the activities I provide. For Preschool ages, activities include alphabet, colors and numbers, reading, sorting, arts and crafts, science, sensory, music and more. -I'm a huge advocate for regular art experience! Both big and messy, and more contained projects. -"Real Life" experiences (cooking, cleaning, and otherwise learning skills) -Taking children on walks and hikes. The best days are when we come back covered in mud. -Going to museums, farms, parks, and other community spaces. \ -Yoga -Singing -Reading and literacy activities. Each of these things can be done with children of any age, even the smallest babies. It looks different depending on the developmental ability and experiences of the individual child, but I'm highly experienced in meeting each child where they're at. Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? Working with children was never really a question for me. I've always loved the idea and knew that it was going to be what I do.
