Experience: I have approx. 12 years of babysitting experience, 3 years of working as a nanny ( 1.5 live out and 1.5 live in), I wouldn't call myself a house manager but have done tasks like running errands, grocery shopping, caring for animals, house sitting, as well as some light cleaning outside of the tidying duties required with caring for children for about 3 years. I also have some teacher assisting experience while I was attending University for my Early Childhood Education degree. I also worked at a camp for a couple of summers. I also have experience working at a camp with children. I mostly worked with children that were going swimming and was responsible for them and caring for them while they swam. I was chosen for this task due to my 18 years of competitive swimming. When it comes to being a nanny, I have worked with two different families. My first family I cared for had one beautiful four month old child that I cared for until they were 18 months old. I worked with this family Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, And Friday 9 to 5 in a live out position. I left this position for the reason that they were moving to a new state. I was asked to come with the family, and as hard as it was to say no, my heart was always in Colorado. I miss them dearly and check in with them periodically. My most recent family I worked with was caring for their lovely 18 month old child. They are very bright, caring, and empathetic but approached things at a bit slower than most children. We learned together that being patient and approaching things when we were ready was the best way to spend our day. I worked with this family any day they needed me (weekdays and weekends) from anywhere from 8 hours to 13 hour days in a live in position. Both parents work in the medical field and it was important to have someone that was very flexible. I also would act as a house and dog sitter for both of these families when they would travel. As far as teaching and education, I have two years of working to obtain a degree in Early Childhood Education. I also have some experience in teacher assisting in a high school setting, as well as a elementary special education setting. I hope to work towards further obtaining this degree in the future.

Experience with the following age groups: I have experience working children ages newborn to high school age.

Interests and hobbies:I have tons of hobbies! Some of those hobbies include arts and crafts like sewing, quilting, painting, drawing, and playing with chalk! I also have hobbies like swimming, hiking, and going on long walks. I've been swimming competitively since I was 5, and try to get in the water any time I can! Something I also enjoy is visiting the zoo, aquarium, and the many museums and parks that Colorado has to offer! I also love to fish. You can catch me singing and dancing quite often as well. Music is a huge part of my life and I enjoy going to the occasional concert. I am very interested in social justice issues as well as environmental change and sustainability. Lastly, I LOVE to travel! I have visited four countries out of the U.S. and hope to see more!

Describe your childcare style:My childcare style is more laid back. I like to plan days to be filled with activities and to get the most out of the day. I believe in having a more hands off approach to some things, unless it is in a situation that is not safe. I think its important for children to build their own thoughts, opinions, interests, and emotions with someone there to give them a hand and to ask questions to if they need it. I like to have fun! I like to make everyday a memorable one. I try to do or learn something new everyday. I also do not like to force anyone to do something they might not want to, or be patient if they aren't quite ready for that new thing/activity but be as encouraging as I can be. I also like to incorporate educational learning and development to fun activities.

What activities do you like to do with children:For younger children, I base the activities on the ages and stages of the children from infants on up including tummy time, colors, numbers, shapes, sizes, speech, sitting up and walking (and then running!). Developmental activities, singing, stories, walks outside/to the park, nurturing etc.! I also like to create sensory bins as well based off of different subject matter like science, art, language, etc., that can be switched out day to day. With doing this, toys are also not being overused. I love doing age appropriate activities including developmental, indoor and outdoor play, reading, nurturing, arts and crafts, science experiments, and even scavenger hunts! And if families are willing, I would love to have a budget to purchase different things such as park and museum passes, craft supplies, and baking supplies - I always try to have a fun, engaging activity planned! I also love taking children on hikes to explore the natural environment that we live in. I also LOVE doing to anything involving being outside! Living where we do, we have been blessed with the best places to explore!

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? I have a huge passion for helping others and being a nurturing person in peoples' lives. Working with kids is what I do best. It always has been! Helping someone become their own self and at that, their best self, is the best job in the world. I get to be a professional best friend! It really doesn't get any better than that!

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter? It's important for a nanny to be calm, nurturing, have boundaries, to be patient, kind, stay consistent and creative. Clear and open communication with the family as a whole is key to being an effective nanny. It is also important to be responsible and reliable. Being on time is so important to me. It's also so important to be silly, funny, and have that creative imagination that children also have! Don't be scared to look like a goofball!

Additional comments:Thank you for taking the time to ready my profile! I look forward to meeting with you! Have a lovely day!
