Experience: I'm a career-driven professional with 7+ years of nannying and household management experience. However, my childcare experience began over 15 years ago in high school when I became the go-to babysitter in my neighborhood. I realized from a young age that I had a passion for working with children, so I decided to pursue a degree in elementary education. While studying, I worked as a pre-k teaching assistant in an early learning center, and I volunteered as a basketball coach for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Through my education training, I gained invaluable experience working with and teaching a variety of school-aged children. Shortly after earning my degree, I found a full-time nannying position caring for twin toddlers and I just knew it was the perfect career for me. I stayed with the family for over two years before relocating to Colorado and finding my current household management position of over 5 years. I have loved my job and built a very close relationship with the family, but they are no longer needing full-time assistance. I am hoping to find a household management position with another wonderful family.

Experience with the following age groups: I have cared for children from toddlers to school age, including twins and multiples. The bulk of my professional teaching experience is with Pre-K through second grade.

Interests and hobbies:I enjoy staying active and healthy and spending time in nature. I love hiking, biking, climbing, skiing, photography, camping -- ALL the Colorado things! I’m working on climbing all of the 14ers in the state. I also love a good board game, traveling, and cooking vegetarian meals.

Describe your childcare style:I would describe my childcare approach as being warm and playful while maintaining appropriate boundaries and expectations. I believe it is so important to establish trust and communicate openly with children; to listen to them without judgment and validate their feelings just as I would with an adult. I love to help raise children to feel empowered, independent, and confident. I am a fan of Love and Logic techniques as well as 1, 2, 3 Magic discipline strategies. Most importantly, I want the children I work with to have fun, to learn from and engage with the world around them, and to have unique experiences. Children learn so much through play and exploration, so I think it's important to foster their growth by taking them on outings and spending lots of time outside.

What activities do you like to do with children:I love to visit museums, the zoo, state parks, and playgrounds; to go swimming, hiking, bike riding, and play sports with kids of all ages. I like to bring babies, toddlers, and young children to fun and developmentally appropriate classes, such as Music Together or My Gym. With older kids, I enjoy engaging in the sports or hobbies they are interested in and helping them explore their passions. In the home, I love to do arts & crafts, yoga and Just Dance videos for exercise, and cooking/baking with the kiddos.

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? I love being a nanny because it’s incredibly rewarding work. In my professional career, I’ve worked for two families in long-term placements and I’ve been lucky enough to help raise 5 beautiful children I love dearly. My employers from over five years ago still occasionally message me to tell me how grateful they are for me and how much they appreciate everything I did for them. I feel fulfilled knowing my work is important and I’m making a positive impact on a family. On top of that, I love children and I always have. They’re full of wonder and they’re just so much fun. I love to be a positive role model for them, to help them build confidence, and to be someone they can talk to about anything. As an active person who loves the outdoors and staying busy, nannying really is the perfect job for me.

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter? It’s important for a nanny to be reliable, patient, and compassionate so the children in her care always feel safe and loved. Excellent communication is needed in order to work as a team with the parents for consistency. A nanny must also be adaptable to meet the changing needs of a growing family. Multitasking and organizational skills are a must, too!
