While I was on the schoolboard, I was a co-chair of the Academic Committee.

I'm also willing to work as:
BABYSITTING   TEMPORARY   OTHER SERVICES
  Overnight

Experience: I have felt a natural calling to spend time with children since I was a teenager. At the age of 12, I started babysitting for a several families that lasted for 8 years. Straight after high school, I went to school for Elementary Education that involved tutoring children in DPS on learning to read and completed a practicum for 1 year and 1 semester of student teaching. While I was finishing college, I worked at a local K-12 school for 2 years. In this position I worked in their after program and summer camp that involved field trips in which I drove a small bus to our outings. After graduating from college I started my own family. I have 3 children. 2 are away at college and my youngest is a junior in high school. When my son entered kindergarten I started teaching and substitute teaching, working in a school health clinic, as well as working in a middle and high school office. This totaled 11 years of teaching/childcare experience. I am familiar with the different stages of children from infancy on including care for premies that may require oxygen, physical therapy, eating, etc. As a house manager I am familiar with duties that include running a household such as laundry, errands, grocery shopping, light housekeeping, meal prep etc.

Experience with the following age groups: My childcare experience spans from infants through high school aged kids. Most of my experience has been with younger children ages newborn to 12 years old.

Interests and hobbies:My interests include spending time with my family and the diverse interests of my children. Most recently as a family we have been doing a lot of traveling and enjoying as much as we can see and experience before my children are on their own and have their own families. When I'm not spending time with my family, I enjoy reading, doing arts and crafts projects, and learning new things.

Describe your childcare style:Raising 3 children has really helped me understand that each child is different and each has their own unique learning styles. Even children of the same family have many differences and are unique and each child should be valued for the individual they are. My approach in working a child is learning what the specific needs and learning style are for that child. I offer a structured environment where children feel safe and encourage free play and curiosity. I like to ask questions to engage their curiosity and it brings me joy to see those sparks start to fly!

What activities do you like to do with children:For infants/Toddlers - ages and stages including rolling over, sitting, crawling, standing and running etc.! It is important to focus on language development, speech, colors, shapes sizes, numbers, smells, fine and gross motor activities etc. Nurturing, singing and play are also important. Preschool/School Age - continuing with the above activities on a more advanced level, I incorporate reading, art, cooking, creative play, indoor and outdoor activities. I am comfortable with homeschooling if needed.

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? I know how busy life can be for parents. I want to work as a nanny/house manager to help these busy families provide a nurturing environment where kids can learn and grow. It was fulfilling as mother to see my children grow through each stage, and as a teacher to see my students grow their skillsets throughout the school year and as this happened watch their confidence grow. Now I would like to do this more on an individualized basis.

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?Creating a safe a nurturing environment is the top priority of being a Nanny. Children and their needs come first above anything else. Reliability, great communication and a genuine love of children is a must.

Additional comments:I look forward to meeting you!
