Experience: I have experience working with many families. A high level of integrity, confidentiality, I respect the privacy needs of the family. I have a pitch-in can do attitude and able to multi-task with nanny services and household management duties including grocery and pantry inventory, mailing packages, assisting with children’s laundry, cooking nutritional meals and snacks for children with emphasis on healthy macros and organic food, keeping children's area neat and tidy, organizing the playroom and other areas of the house, planning outings and keeping a calendar of events and doctor’s appointments. Skilled in creating schedules and keeping on top of changes in children’s daily schedules activities, overseeing planning for holidays and birthdays, researching children’s activities, summer camps and events. I am tech savvy and proficient in Research Skills, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Power Point, Google Docs and Calendar. I love animals (dogs and cats) and would be very happy to walk your dog around the neighborhood hiking. I can help with pet care services whatever you need. I like being proactive and jumping in where needed to help the family's lives run smoothly. I follow strict social distancing protocol during COVID-19. Overall, I keep an open, transparent line of communication with families. I enjoy outdoor, educational activities and sensory play to stimulate physical, social, cognitive development as well as motor skills,

Experience with the following age groups: Newborn to 17 years old including premature babies, toddler twins, children with autism spectrum disorder, and food allergies. I love all children. I have never favored a particular age group over others. I make sure that I have each day planned out based on the particular children’s interests, needs, personalities, and skill levels. For instance, in one of nanny positions, I was taking care of a 5-week-old baby girl and 2-year-old toddler boy. The age difference meant that they were in completely different stages of life, with different wants and needs. Because I was knowledgeable about the developmental stages of both children, I proactively created a plan to make sure that each day was stimulating for both children.

Interests and hobbies:I am a nanny who deeply values a holistic and wellness-based approach to life. I have a daughter who is 20 years old and a freshman at UC Berkeley. I live a very simple minimalist lifestyle with natural products, free of plastics, compost, and follow an organic vegan diet. I love nature and like to live my life to the fullest, as I believe life should be adventurous. My interests include hiking, baking, messy art projects, outdoor adventures and music. I like to keep active and prefer a family I can do the same with. When I am not working, I find ways to enjoy many outdoor activities such as hiking, backpacking, camping, and mountaineering. Overall, I strongly believe that I cannot fully take care of someone else without first taking care of myself with love and respect. I tend to stay very active, but I also can relax by reading a good book. I balance my life with my hobbies and with spending time with family and friends. Life is all about finding the right balance. I am in love with 14ers and before COVID you can find me on weekends in Lone Pine backpacking and camping on top of those 14ers. Last fall, I submitted to Mt. Whitney, the tallest mountain in the lower 48 states after two weeks of backpacking and hiking the famous John Muir Trail!

Describe your childcare style:As a mother and through my years of experience as a professional nanny, I advocate for using the theory of RIE Resources for Infant Educators (also called respectful parenting) along with positive discipline (or PD philosophy). I strongly believe that babies/children are capable of understanding us from birth and are considered as a whole person who deserves to be heard and understood. It is all about respect and trust in the baby/children to be initiators, explorers, and self-learners while providing an environment for them that is physically safe, cognitively challenging and emotionally nurturing. Children learn more from respect, trust, and positive attention than from negativity or disapproval. I use Positive Discipline when I communicate to children in a polite and respectful way and this includes eye contact. I explain everything I do to the baby/child in a step by step manner (what I am doing and what I will do next) from changing a diaper to giving a bath. Also, when I make a request, I allow time for them to respond. If children comply with a request, I praise them and I use rewards such as playing their favorite game to keep encouraging their good behavior. Remaining calm under pressure can be difficult, especially with toddlers and young children, so I practice Positive Discipline, which focuses on the positive points of a child’s behavior, based on the idea that there are no bad children, just good and bad behaviors. Research has shown that traditional punishment teaches what is wrong, but does not always help a child learn and understand what is right. So, when children do something wrong, instead of punishing them, I effectively communicate with them by reframing ‘no’ as a ‘yes,’ using a firm tone of voice to keep them safe and well behaved. For instance, I may explain to the child why his behavior, such as poking his baby sister, hurts her feelings and makes her very sad. Then I might tell him, “Give your sister a hug,” or some similar suggestion to help create a positive image in his mind of something nice to do instead of poking. By following this positive approach, I teach the child empathy and that what he does affects other people around him, and I help him to develop concern for other’s feelings. Overall, these philosophies I practiced are designed to create a closer bond with the baby/child and help them understand the world around them in a faster and better way. In addition to these methods of discipline I have discussed, I also think that it is important today to set clear rules around the use of technology and screen time. I strictly limit children's screen time as well as exposure to electronic devices and video games. I never let children choose electronics over reading, playing and interacting with friends, or being active. Positive Discipline and RIE. I also have found that consistency is important for child development as they provide comfort and a sense of safety to children.

What activities do you like to do with children:Infants: I encourage them play with their hands freely because they get to feel and move as well as head and tummy exercises to strengthen their core. Sitting, crawling, walking around the neighborhood or taking them to the park. I am also into nature and outdoor activities. When the weather permits and is safe to do so, I like to bring a blanket with me and let the baby watch and explore the world around him. I also like to play with black and white and colorful contrast cards with babies for visual stimulation. I also love to read and sing to babies including talking to babies in order to influence brain development. Develop a consistent nap and feeding schedule. Toddlers: Responsible for care and hygiene such as bathing, dressing, assisting with potty training, and getting the child ready for bedtime including changing into pajamas, and brushing teeth. Provide hands-on learning experience by developing sensory activities and taking children on adventures to nature, the beach, and to the Children’s Museum. Help with Spanish language development. I also take children on walks, parks and encourage their cognitive development by incorporating fun and educational activities into their routine such as playing with alphabet puzzles, counting numbers, and practicing shapes and colors in Spanish language. I can develop educational, cultural, and linguistically appropriate child-care curricula. I also love to read and engage toddlers in fun conversations to help with language and communication development. Baking is also part of my activities with toddlers. I love to make healthy muffins with fruit and vegetables and many times they eat them as snacks or for breakfast! Spending time outdoors is imp. not only get them away from screens, but give children fresh air, exercise, and sunlight which are important also for their health. Play ‘Hide and Seek' and invent scenarios with puppets or stuffed toys in which children portrayed many different roles. I develop educational sensory play that allows toddlers to connect and interact with the natural world around them. Sensory play encourages learning through exploration, that stimulates their curiosity and question the world around them. Preschool: Responsible for care and hygiene such as bathing, dressing, assisting with potty training, and getting the child ready for bedtime including changing into pajamas, and brushing teeth. Provide transportation to and from school, camp or extracurricular activities. Assist children in their Spanish language development. Provide hands-on learning experience by developing sensory activities and taking children on adventures to nature, the beach, and to the Creativity Children’s Museum. In my job where I took care of a 10-month old baby boy and 2-year-old boy in San Francisco, CA, when COVID10 hit, I helped the toddler (preschooler) with distance learning and activities through live Zoom sessions and other platforms and helped to accomplish any tasks given by his school. Supplement his schooling with any additional enrichment in the form of a customized curriculum (such as hands-on material, projects, weekly themes, etc). Organize fun and educational games, read story books in Spanish that increase children’s interest in story time, and plan outdoor activities, such as walking to the local library, playground, beach or spend time in nature. Play ‘Hide and Seek' and invent scenarios with puppets or stuffed toys in which children portrayed many different roles. Stimulate children’s proprioceptive sense by engaging in activities such as playing with Legos, puzzles, sand, water and dough and building train sets to refine fine-motor skills. Provide children a sense of freedom, helping them understand and express their emotions through art activities including drawing with crayons, watercolor painting, blowing bubbles, canvas art, play dough, etc, while also encouraging focus, concentration, and hand-eye coordination. School Age: Provide transportation to and from school, camp or extracurricular activities. Participate in outdoor activities and sports including basketball, swimming, tag, and open to try other sports. Take them hiking, skiing, swimming, library, to the park, and engage them in fun conversations about something they are curious about. Spend time outdoors, exercising, and baking. Building legos, give them independence as well and work with fun science projects. Help with homework. Teens: Assist parents with all comprehensive childcare duties including organizing teenager’s schedules and activities; transporting teenagers to and from school, after-school sports, medical appointments; tutoring; and preparing healthy meals.

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? Working with children is fun because each day brings new excitements! I truly enjoy being around children because they always brighten my day and find ways to make me smile. I love their endless contagious energy, innocence, eagerness, enthusiasm, and resilience. I enjoy helping children create memories that will not only be fun stories to tell when their parents get back from work but that will become lasting memories. My favorite part of being a nanny is the ability to be an integral part of a child’s life and development. There is nothing more rewarding than helping children grow and being part of their development. I work to make sure that children are not only safe and happy, but that they also feel empowered and that no matter what they face, they will never be alone. The fact that I am taking care of the child for a significant amount of the day makes me realize that I have a great influence on them and can make a positive impact in their lives. I reconnected with a family that I worked for 11 years ago, when I went to the youngest child's birthday party with my daughter. When I worked for them, he was a baby and his sister was a preschooler. At the party, she told me that she had missed me and all the fun adventures and memories we had together, such as playing hide and seek in the garden at her grandmother's house in San Rafael. Hearing about the impact I made in these children's lives makes me love working as a nanny even more.

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?I believe that I have the following characteristics that make me an excellent Nanny: I am a very responsible and safety conscious nanny and consider the children's safety first and foremost. I am CPR and First Aid certified. I also have solid communication skills; I am comfortable with asking questions when I am unsure of parents’ expectations or directions, and I keep parents informed in a friendly and effective way about their children's activities and development. I am very respectful of the parents in terms of childrearing practices and decisions, and I honor the authority they have over their children. I am proactive when it comes to discipline, safety, and meeting children's needs. Punctuality and reliability are also important characteristics I possess. I understand that parents are relying on me to fulfill the family’s obligations and commitments on time. I show up every day on time and ready to work, and my good time management skills help families to keep everything on the right track and ensure that I complete all the needed household tasks. I am very good at keeping the house tidy as well as cleaning and organizing children's rooms, closets, and toy rooms. Honesty is also an important characteristic to me. Parents depend on me to meet or exceed the terms of our working agreement, and they not only trust me to provide outstanding care for their children but also trust me with their home, personal belongings, and sensitive information about their family. I highly respect their home and property, and I will always highly protect their privacy and confidentiality. Since life with children can be unpredictable, I am very flexible and able to adapt to any situation in regard to scheduling, daily responsibilities, and household environment. As a mother of an 20-year-old daughter, I have strong common sense, good judgment and strong morals. I constantly help shape children's worldviews, set their internal compass, and make choices that are in their best interests in terms of health and development, with parents’ approval and shared philosophy.
