Experience: Along with all expected nanny duties, I also assisted with laundry, light housekeeping, grocery shopping, organization, errands, and anything else needed to keep the household running smoothly. I'm a career-driven professional with 7+ years of nannying. However, my childcare experience began 15 years ago when I became the go-to babysitter in my neighborhood. I realized from a young age that I had a passion for working with children, so I decided to pursue a degree in early childhood education. I have extensive experience working with newborns through elementary school age children. I am able to provide support in helping infants reach their monthly milestones, clothing and diapering, bottle feeding (breastmilk, formula and transitioning to whole milk), transitioning to solids and baby led weaning (finger foods), help with baby-proofing home, sleep training and assisting with potty training. I can help with meal prep for children: breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks throughout the day. I take charge in organizing playdates with friends and classmates. I love to encourage reading and creativity and help kids express themselves through crafts, pretend play, dressing up, dancing and building blocks. I can plan outings to museums, appropriate playgrounds and parks throughout the week and encourage kids to help weigh in on where they want to spend their time too. I am also capable of taking the children to their pediatrician for wellness check-ups and sick visits if needed.

Experience with the following age groups: Infant, toddler, preschool, and elementary school age.

Interests and hobbies:I enjoy staying active and healthy and spending time in nature. I love hiking, biking, climbing, skiing, photography, camping -- ALL the Colorado things! I also love a good board game, and travel whenever the opportunity arises.

Describe your childcare style:My child care style focuses on responding to children in a warm and comforting way, having clear and appropriate expectations of children, and using understandable and proper communication. I believe it is very important to establish trust and communicate openly with children; to listen to them without judgement and validate their feelings just as I would an adult. Each child is different and I work with the parents to create a unique child care plan with their styles and interests in mind. I believe it’s important to work with parents as a team, being on the same page is always beneficial to everyone within the family unit. I love to embrace children's creativity and individuality so they feel empowered, independent, and confident.

What activities do you like to do with children:I love to visit museums, the zoo, state parks, and playgrounds; to go swimming, hiking, bike riding, and play sports with kids of all ages. I like to bring babies, toddlers, and young children to fun and developmentally appropriate classes. With older kids, I enjoy engaging in the sports or hobbies they are interested in and helping them explore their passions. In the home, I love to do arts & crafts, yoga, and cooking/baking with the kiddos. Exploring nature and making adventures educational is a wonderful way to keep the children on track while having fun. I also love playing music and having dance parties, building forts, playing games, treasure hunts, and making interactive tasks such as baking or cleaning up toys super fun and enjoyable. I enjoy being outside with the children under my care, even if they’re only months old. There is something magical about spending a nice sunny day out in the park.

Why are you interested in working as a Nanny or Babysitter? I love being a nanny because it’s incredibly rewarding work. In my professional career, I’ve worked for four families in long-term placements and I’ve been lucky enough to help raise 8 beautiful children whom I love dearly. My employers from over five years ago still occasionally message me to tell me how grateful they are for me and how much they appreciate everything I did for them. I feel fulfilled knowing my work is important and I’m making a positive impact on a family. I’ve even been fortunate enough to be able to come back and watch them for date nights or weekend trips. On top of that, I love children and I always have. They’re full of wonder and they’re just so much fun. I love to be a positive role model for them, to help them build confidence, and to be someone they can talk to about anything. As an active person who loves the outdoors and staying busy, nannying really is the perfect job for me. I am deeply passionate about the development and well-being of children. Being able to help a child develop into who they are and support them in learning skills and habits they will take with them throughout their childhood.

What qualities are important in a Nanny or Babysitter?Patience, creativity, kindness are all very important qualities, also having a good balance between structure and fun is necessary. Safety and responsibility are also essential, the parents and children should feel safe and comfortable with their nanny. It’s important for a nanny to be reliable, patient, and compassionate so the children in her care always feel safe and loved. Excellent communication is needed in order to work as a team with the parents for consistency. A nanny must also be adaptable to meet the changing needs of a growing family. Multitasking and organizational skills are a must as well. A great nanny is able to provide a positive, safe and educational environment for children of all ages and also be a good influence on them. I always find teachable moments in which my kiddos can learn and practice kindness and empathy in their hearts. I also think it’s important to allow a safe space for kids to feel like they can truly be themselves without judgment. What I love most about being a nanny is that there is never a dull moment! Being a caregiver comes so naturally for me and after years of experience I still find it to be so rewarding.
